  1. I shall happily agree to disagree then, as i watch some cracking cells firing up over Norfolk
  2. Not always the case, the overcast cloud can clearly be seen on Sat and the convergence line can be seen building underneath it, the upper cloud sheet has also thinned a lot in the last couple of hours.
  3. You should look at radar and satellite before writing, a convergence line building and heading towards Norfolk, it just left here and convection was bubbling up nicely, where are you getting your judgement that there is no chance of convection because there already is.
  4. Sun peeking through a bit here, a small convergence line building here going W/NW with some dark bases already appearing.
  5. You can have my part of the triangle, i've not done to bad here so far this year, obviously i'd always want more but i can't complain. Tomorrow has the potential for some for some fun in a small zone around here, so will be watching with a keen eye.
  6. The main storm season for the islands is September/October which is why i went for September in Majorca again this year, last time i went in 2012 they'd had a heatwave since may and after the first week it broke with a vengance. The lightning was all straight line CG's one of which is my profile photo, the thunder was like i've never heard before, it was just like the boom of a cannon, short and sharp and echoing through the mountains, hail was the size of 50p pieces and the wind on the GF was really nasty, within minutes of it hitting everywhere was flooding, water was running like a river through the front door of our hotel and straight out the back of the restaurant into the pool area, they did really well with the clean up because by the next morning you wouldn't have known any different. The storm lasted about an hour and after you could see smoke coming from different positions in the hills where lightning had started fires in the bush. Of all the storms i've ever seen that one was without doubt the best. Best of luck to you, i hope it happens for you
  7. I shall keep my eye on it, might have to look into getting something like that, though it seems i now need a new AWS, after the second storm on Saturday morning the poor thing lost its life.
  8. Good chance for you there today Will, upper trough moving in later could enhance showers for Devon, S Wales especially SW Wales, probably more North Devon for the better cells but reckon you'll see something.
  9. Line of storms from The Channel right down to Spain now, is it to much to ask for it to connect up with the Lincolnshire storms, some serious destabilisation going on there now.
  10. Sorry to hear about your 30 minute bug, it must have been awful, rest of the day sounds good though
  11. Agreed, thats a lovely example of inflow on that beast, even at normal speed you can clearly see moisture condensing and getting sucked in, great vid
  12. It never ceases to amaze me how at 10am so many people can write their chances off for a storm today, some of you guys must be so good at convective forecasting, maybe you could share with us exactly which postcodes will see a storm today.
  13. Shame you don't live closer to me Gordon, i'd be more than happy to pop round when theres something heading your way and see if we can work on getting you over your phobia, i have a phobia of dogs, i really can't be near a dog thats not on a lead, i feel for you mate,it must be so tough.
  14. They mention supercell development, and that wont be anything to do with an mcs in the SE
  15. I couldn't believe it when she said it, but yes in the early hours of Monday morning, she had the lightning symbol over the central South coast and then had them breaking out over the Midlands later in the day.
  16. I don't tend to watch tv forecasts but just saw the itv one and even she said people will be woken in the small hours by thunder.
  17. ECM has been his model of choice over the weekend, yesterday he went for a big no to surface based storms post front while all others said yes and we know who was right with that one, gonna be another long day of model watching tomorrow to see how developments go over The Channel.
  18. Pjb on UKww saying that ECM and Hirlam models both going for an Mcs developing over France tomorrow and moving up across the SE and East Anglia, GFS keeping it on the continent.
  19. As i said earlier, where there is moisture we will see the showers, but with the lack of convergence i can't see the tops getting anywhere near high enough to turn the showers into Storms.
  20. Unfortunately with storms it will always be the case that some will see them and others will not, you can rest assured that when you see the large breakdowns over France, Belgium, Germany etc they are in exactly the same boat, i,m sure there were plenty of storm lovers like us who were feeling the same as yourself in Belgium yesterday when they saw the storms breaking out. I didn't expect to see anything here yesterday and then bagged 3 storms over Ipswich and another dying storm with a few flashes and rumbles passed to the West, it always seems that when you don't build yourself up for it, it then happens. Don't get too downhearted, it will happen for you again, and you'll probably go through a stage where it seems that every time theres a storm outbreak you get one every time.
  21. You can clearly see the lack of moisture across the SE corner today on Sat24, elsewhere (apart from Ireland) its going to be tough to get some convergence to push things upward.
  22. Big clap of thunder at the England game in the USA. Game has now been stopped.
  23. It was worth a try mate, i think the cap just can't be broken, sods law says your half way home and the loaded gun goes bang.
