  1. I'm more inclined to think its a low forming Paul, its just too big to be a supercell and a supercell is i believe a single cell whereas this has numerous cells popping up in it, like i said in my previous post the cold front has a wave in it which is the stage before a low is formed, and checking the GFS 00z it has this small low in the North sea just of of East Anglia.
  2. I'm wondering whether the sudden change of direction of this system off East Anglia and the way it seems to be turning has anything to do with the cold front and the wave it had on it.
  3. I'll happily give it to the guys in Norfolk, i came down to Kent for the first MCS last night, then came back home to radar watch and was given 2 hours of continuous lightning at 4 this morning, So i've had my fair share.
  4. The weather never ceases to amaze me, that system came up towards the South coast, then turned right when it got to the Channel, went into Belgium and turned North to the Netherlands, and then finally turned left towards the East coast, lovely light show its giving.
  5. Torrential rain here, some good T+L obviously not as much as this morning, but very nice CG's with loud booming thunder.
  6. Can see lightning and hear thunder from the Clacton storm a lot more frrequent than the detector says
  7. Anything but a non-event here, a good trip down memory lane last night, to the 2 hour long storms i had as a kid. I would say its the best plume event for the UK as a whole for coming on 2 decades.
  8. Hi Geg, always good to hear from another Ipswich poster, I'm in Bramford on the West side, last night was amazing, a proper 80's storm, i think our chances are still pretty good today, some more sunshine would help though.
  9. All eyes on the dry slot now coming into the SE off the Channel. Suns just making a break through here.
  10. It really is, you couldn't even count the flashes if you tried, and every so often it sends a crawler straight over the house.
  11. Oh my god this is absolutely mental, its been a long wait but its here, proper old skool storm
  12. Came down to the Estuary earlier to watch it come over from Kent, what an amazing show it was, now wishing i had stayed there.
  13. May be Anvil crawlers, have you seen the size of it on satellite pic, that bubbling top has the characteristics of an MCS
  14. Right car hired, damage waiver sorted, just a case of wait and see where things are heading (probably straight for my house now lol). Question- Is there a netweather app so i can get on the forum quickly?
  15. Cars got to go in for a wheel bearing thats very noisy, main area of interest tonight is over the Cambridgeshire border, so do i go and hire a car for the weekend, mmmmmm decisions decisions.
  16. Very true, i think a very experienced convective forecaster on here said last night he wouldn't be seeing any storms in his area last night and then this morning was surprised to be woken by a TS, and yet people with no forecasting experience whatsoever pretend to know whats going to happen in the next 24-48 hours by just looking out the window.
