Just had a look at the lampost and the flakes are much bigger here now.

The centre of the low is over Middlesborough as of 16.20, you can see the wraparound (northerles) just to the west of the city. Here in west Norfolk had about 5cm but easing off now. Got thesnow magnet powered up for later though
Yes Barkingbroom beat me to it that is the wrap around starting to appear on radar in Middlesborough, it should start to sink down the East coast towards East anglia.

Just started with light flakes here in West Ipswich.

I do hope so ....
Do we have an ETA? I haven't got an up to date radar as I'm a mobile phone user
Looks like the edge is just getting to Huntingdon and Cambridge, so probably still a couple of hours, to be honest the later it gets here the better, the more we can get during darkness the quicker it will settle.
Hope you can wait that long

No snow here in Ipswich yet, but we have gone from clear sky's and sunshine to a bit more of breeze, a few more puffs of cloud and no more sun,
It's really like waiting for Christmas morning today!, I'm all stocked up and ready for the snow!
Not long now, were nearly there

In my eyes this is not Anaprop that we are seeing, anaprop is exactly as it says in this description reflectivity that shows up on radar that isn't precip, anaprop doesn't move with the wind, it stays still, this is precip on the radar, its just evaporating before it gets to the ground in the very dry air.
ANAPROP - ANomAlous PROPagation - when radar microwaves are refraction by things like inversions down to the ground, and are then reflected back to the dish - as far as the radar is concerned, something is there, and so it displays it as a return, but it is not precipitation !

In my experience, some of the best snow events are the ones that get spotted 6 hours or less prior to it or even the ones that don't get spotted at all, if this spell keeps going as long as a week then i'm sure we'll see some troughs appearing from nothing somewhere across the UK.
Currently 1.9c Dewpoint -4.0c here.

Nice to see another person from this neck of the woods!
Hoping for a decent snowfall Monday evening if the charts come off as shown.........
Hi Chalk S, I've been on UKww for the last 5 or 6 years but it seems to have got very quiet over there in the last couple of years, so i've come over to NW where its nice to see a few people from my area posting.
Still looking good for a few cm's for at least the first half of the week

A new upbeat and positive thread for us then, sounds good, i won't go and make a cuppa and then come back to find 10 new pages of complaining.
On another note i really hope the radar is back to normal by the time the action starts.

Welcome to NW, Chris. Are we hopeful?
Thanks for the welcome RP, Yes i'm getting that way now, i've polished off the ruler and i may even go out and give the streetlight a clean.

I'm just on the outskirts of Ippy too, its certainly looking good for all of us, i might even treat myself to one of these (for the kids of course)
