  1. Thanks @Bring Back1962-63. Excellent analysis as always. Is anyone she having a problem with their NW radar app on Android? Mine is just showing a blank map on both my phone and tablet..???
  2. Edit: ^^^ Karlos beat me to it! The accumulation chart for Sunday evening also matches their warning areas pretty well for our region and across the south
  3. I'm probably using the wrong terminology, really just musing about the blob of heavier precipitation which I think is associated with the kink in the isobars: Actually looks ok for nearly all our region on the 12z HIRLAM!
  4. Looks like this weekend is going to be even more of a radar watch than the last snowy episode! I'm just hoping we get a nice dumping of snow overnight Sat/Sun so that we can take the grandkids sledging in the morning before it all melts, although I think in our regions it may be cloudy most of the day, so limited sun related snowmelt hopefully. Will def be glued to the radar Saturday night to see where this little disturbance looks like its heading. Landfall a little further east and then pushing a tad north before it heads west will see all of us in the snow belt!
  5. There is very little sun around Saturday or Sunday either, so I would think any snow that does fall may build up quite nicely.
  6. It will be interesting to see how it pans out with wall to wall cloud cover Sat/Sun for my locale and temperatures forecast to barely get above freezing from 6am Saturday until 9am Monday !
  7. Our old friend the HIRLAM model is also now getting within range. Precipitation charts Friday into Saturday show the decaying front moving SW with some light snow associated with it as the cold air digs in.
  8. Time for a snow accumulation chart covering the weekend I think. This one is from the 6z run of the ICON-EU model and really shows the possible upper low moving across our region overnight Sat/Sun. Also ties in with the METO warning pretty well
  9. That chart was actually for somewhere far to the east I think, Latvia someone said. The ECM has shown a possible return of the Beast though. Will be gone in the morning run though I'm sure
  10. Extremely quiet over in the model thread lately! Not surprising I guess given no clear pattern showing up with lots of low pressure systems meandering around. One thing that does seem to be a theme is a fairly deep LP system hitting us over next weekend but track and positioning varies between the models.
  11. A balmy 10.1c here today, all the snow rather depressingly disappearing too quickly. My dog and I decided to try and find a last bit of snow to enjoy on his afternoon walk. Just about managed it!
  12. It's certainly been the one I've turned to this week to get a good idea of where the snow was going to be.
  13. Hope everyone has been out enjoying the snow and not sat in front of the computer! What a fantastic end to the winter it's been, much better than I thought it would be this time last week. Even though we haven't had the heaviest snow we've got more than a decent covering and some impressive drifts plus still more to come tonight it looks like. Here's one of the lanes out of the village this afternoon:
  14. Current uppers as per the NW Extra radar: With the flow being off the continent I believe anything below the 0c line should fall as snow today.
  15. Really wish the Forum Team would sort out the location of posters not displaying on the mobile version of the forum!
  16. Whilst we patiently wait for round 2 to begin (up here in the NE of the region anyway!), some pics my son-in-law sent me of the road between Aldbourne and Swindon this morning and we didn't really have the heaviest falls yesterday that some have had!
  17. Although it might not be such a nice one as it could bring in the warmer 850hpa temperatures and turn it all to rain! Note that would only be temporary though as it should turn cold enough for mostly snow later on today.
  18. Exactly re the low flattening out. The stuff in the channel looks like its generally moving in the direction my Dads Army style creation is showing:
  19. Hah, yes, great minds! Not sure how you change your name, had mine on here a long time although I've not really been an active poster until this winter!
  20. That stuff building up in the channel isn't even the main course for later on today, that's the band going down the western coast of France in the screenie below:
