  1. HPa down to 988 and falling, current temps 10.2 degrees down in blustery Brighton. Hell, even the squirrels are stocking up quick smartish in my garden as we speak!
  2. Absolutely bucketing it down here along with gusty winds. About 60 visiting halloween trick or treaters.. Neighbours 2nd storey extension construction timbers swaying..I think a 'word' might be in order tomorrow as last week they left everything lying around, not to mention digging into my boundary and have pretty much condemned my 80 year old beech hedge :-(
  3. No, the incident I referred to was many years ago and I've seen alot of the original facade 'fall off' in that time! Noble should be doing some major maintenance to shore it up (Probably why no-one wanted to buy it and they took it off the market as well as the economic situation re: tourism) I was also there when a poor bloke (who was not locked in properly) on the old umbrella ride at it's highest point literally flew into the sea! Ah, the memories ;-) Back on Topic: Out putting the garden furniture away, the wind is getting up here and quite humid/mild at 78%
  4. I would be thinking the same thing too in your position. Having been on the Palace Pier in strong winds which ripped off part of the roofing on the outside seating area in the middle section, which landed about 2 foot from my feet (piece about 2 metres long!) I would be inclined to tell your boss. Noble aren't the best at keeping the pier in tip top shape... But, hell, you could get some amazing pictures ;-) The argus is asking for everyone to become their personal photogs for the day (For free of course) !
  5. Remember 87 well down here in Brighton. It was quite a walk the next day into town. So I'm not taking any chances and will be clearing the garden tomorrow of anything not pinned down. Better safe than sorry. My neighbours are having construction work done at the moment so not looking forward to what might fly over the boundary hedge, if the builders have left the site as they did today... My avatar is aptly named 'Storm Bringer' :-)

    Storm 29/7/2013

Thats some cloud formation! Great wide shot cityscape.
  11. This is a macro urban image I photographed. It is aptly named "Storm Bringer" In reality, it is a derelict shed building of corrugated iron which had been set on fire - the image itself is actually in reality only around a 3cm in size (a minute piece of the building), photographed with a 60mm macro lens. As a photographer of mainly unusual subject matter (although I do photograph other things too!) I love to hunt for 'tiny' landscapes in larger pieces of decaying materials and visualise...this immediately struck me as a storm!

  12. It maxed out at 30.2c in Brighton at 5pm..slowly going down, standing at 28.9c now. Incredible, as you say, the breeze is very strong and whipping the trees around quite fiercely.
  13. I felt abit 'cheated' being only treated to maybe three flashes and a couple of rumbles...had to put on ACDC 'thunder' to finish the last bit of landscaping in my garden in time for the rain. Glad that came though, tired of lumbering silly 'o clock watering cans around to keep all the newly planted area alive! - now I have visions of the snail brigade eating the lot over night! Apols for the off-topic.
  14. Has risen from 27 to 29.3 in the last hour, then back down to 28.8, humidity is still steadily rising. I have a meeting in afew hours, high level looking out onto brighton seafront. Taking my camera and video camera with me..if it all kicks off, I'm heading for the nearest window! The meeting will have to wait :-)
  15. A walk behind my home in Brighton, South Downs in the last hour. The dog disappeared on a couple of occasions!
  16. Are you uploading from phone or computer? I uploaded direct from my iPad, so should be the same for a phone. I just went to 'reply to post' clicked on it. It then gives you the option to upload photos, click that option, then, , it will say something like 'existing' which means pictures you have already taken, then click that and you will have a choice of locations of your photos - for me, my most recent pictures were in camera roll, (yours might be your photos) click in there and choose the shots to upload...preview your post to be sure you are happy, then post. Hope that helps!
  17. Brighton, outside my house afew moment ago, for those wanting to see pictures. It's a tadge dark, my i-pad doesn't seem to have a flash!
  18. @Coast - Argus reporting the A259 at East Dean no longer passable. Safe journey.
  19. Have you seen a gritter in your street yet, Im on a main bus route too (although not running currently lol) I don't know what the night-time temp is going to hit, but the roads are going to be total chaos tomorrow. People are still still trying to drive up the street at silly speeds (we are at the bottom of a rather steep gradient) Still coming down fairly strongly here too. I won't be attempting to get to a planned meeting in Craven Vale in the morning methinks!
  20. I think you were lucky to get out that way when you did. ( I went by way of Surrenden this morning and it was completely clear then) Coldean lane impassible, lewes Road completely gridlocked both ways, slip road into the Hollingbury turnoff cars reported sliding back down! Here now we have freezing cold rain/sleet Bevendean. Edit: This was in response to chionmaniac :-)
  21. Just Lurking and learning, I find it really interesting the different reports coming in from the Brighton and Hove Area. I'm in Bevendean, Brighton and what started as sleet about 3.15pm became heavy snow within 30 minutes of driving between The Hove and Brighton boundaries. Pretty treacherous down here in our little valley! Watched a poor lady at the bottom of our road about a hour ago slam on the brakes and smash straight into the barrier. Great reading the different reports and forecasts. edit: oops - gender def female :-) will have to fix that
