As others have said, stuck under this pivoting band. Looking like 30mm or so, so far today, still coming down now and that’s on top of the roughly 8-10mm yesterday….
Thoroughly damp.

Afternoon all,
Based on Wunderground, temperatures still at -1C, fog hasn’t lifted all day, though is a little lighter than earlier.
Forecast top temp during daytime hours was 4C… assuming the milder temperatures will still sweep across later as the winds move to a SE’ly direction. But it could easily mean anything is falling onto frozen surfaces!

Temperature reached the dizzy heights of 1.2°C today following a low of -2.7°C.
Now back down to -1.4°C with clear skies.
Yes, to continue the theme of this spell of the Met seeming to overcook the temperatures a little - max was forecast for 3-4C I think, but it struggled to get above 1C. Forecast now shows 1C at 7pm, but it appears we’re looking at -1/-2C at the moment.
I can only hope this continues on and bodes well for the forecast (rain) showers tomorrow and other LP systems coming over the coming days! Ever the optimist

Same here, I'm worried the low is slightly further South, hoping it's nothing though
Yes, I’m hoping that the reason it is colder, isn’t purely down to the low being further south and us therefore holding onto colder temperatures!
On that note - Now looks a solid 0C on all stations…. 4C on the met office forecast for now!!
How is everyone else doing for current temps vs forecast?

Good evening all!
Like many others, a sniff of snow and cold has dragged me back, hope everyone is doing well.
Always find these set ups interesting, even if we end up disappointed!
My straw I’m going to be clutching for today/tomorrow is the temperatures. Currently, met office say 4C for 9pm. Wunderground shows somewhere between 0C-2C being the reality.
Here’s hoping for some surprise dustings tomorrow!

Some ice pellets at first which has turned into some light rain now… praying the temperature can stay low enough for when the big blob gets here!

Oddly, still around freezing here. I wonder if all the cold air has sunk as Taunton does sit in a valley surrounded by a lot of hills!

Unfortunately appears to be chiefly anaprop (or evaporating before making it to ground). It’s showing some precipitation moving around, but generally over us over the last hour or so, but nothing seen yet!

So regarding to the next few days, do we still have the system skirting the south coast Tuesday evening? Or is that looking desperate?
Interestingly, the Met office predictive weather map shows it coming much further north than I’ve seen it show so far. Imagine we may end up seeing some warnings if they can get some consistency from the models of its track!

Currently looking at the motorway cameras to ‘watch’ that shower in Devon, this is Junction 27 currently.
Link if anyone is interested (Cullompton junction also looks snowy!)

Morning Dec2010
I hope it reaches you and give you a good covering of the white stuff
Is all of this precipitation coming into the Southwest falling of snow away from the coast ?
Well it got here, as snow. However then changed to a sleety/snowy mix before finally turning to rain, freezing rain I’d assume given the air and ground temperatures, so may be lethal out there now!
Temps and DP’s look conducive to snow so I wonder what is missing? Always sad to see potential snow wasted, but at least I saw it falling for about 5 mins.

Morning all! Awoken to the first frost of the season!
Long time no post, though I do sporadically dip in.
Colder start than forecast this morning, -1/-2 currently looking at Wunderground; contrast to yesterday which was a degree or two higher than predicted.
Looks like some wintry showers into Devon and Cornwall as predicted, anyone under these managed to get some snow?

Regardless of lighting, that’s an impressive lump of heavy rain on the radar!

At a guess, we’ve probably had 80mm or so of rain since last Wednesday.
50mm over the 24 hour event Weds - Thurs20mm Saturday mainly from 2 torrential downpours
10mm yesterday from more general rain with some heavier downpours.
Proving a rather wet spell, welcome to Summer!

After a very temporary easing this morning it is pouring down again as the front pivots right over my location. I'm not home to see what my station says but we must be approaching 50mm now over the last 24hrs. And no warning! Mind you, channel lows are notoriously hard to predict.
I was thinking it must have been 40mm in the last 24 hours, but 50mm doesn’t surprise me... it hasn’t stopped!
Was just about to say it’s started easing but it definitely hasn’t, starting coming down again now.

What we thinking to next weeks weather then folks?!
Looks good, will enjoy a bit of sun and a decent level of Spring warmth!

Morning all,
Nice day yesterday. Sunny intervals and also a shower with a nice hail core to it (typically I was outside when it came over!!). Felt warm in the sun too, makes me think, roll on Spring!!

An interesting Sunday morning read:
An unusual Ocean anomaly is being detected in the Gulf Stream, not seen in at least 150 years, bearing importance as we face the next weather seasons
WWW.SEVERE-WEATHER.EUUnited States and Europe are strongly influenced by Gulf Stream, where an unusually strong anomaly is being detected in the Ocean- 1
