All seems to be intensifying once it’s passed here I mean I’m not missing out on much but very frustrating

Some light snow falling here now, not settling all that well but it is above freezing here now so sure that doesn’t help.

I don’t know why everyone rates the metoffice so much. They change there forecast every single day? Last week they were saying very blocked feb and March. Now it’s the complete opposite. You guys put way too much faith into these people.
With respect, they are only reacting to the models. If they all agree on cold one day and flip mild the next, who are they to be able to predict that? They have to use what’s in front of them and although they have much more resource than we do, they’re still guided by the models.
Our little place is just very fickle for forecasting.

Intrigued to see that Taunton (half of it anyway) is in the yellow warning for tonight. Thought we were out of the game but maybe we have a chance of a dusting.

Once you get to mid February, especially in this part of the country, you start to feel the sun's strength/warmth on your skin a bit more and it's very easy to start to look towards the warmer, Spring days ahead (and all the convective weather that brings).
Personally, (and I expect I'm not alone here), I would be quite content with some warmer, sunnier days ahead. Just don't want lots of rain! Obviously, if a March 2018 popped up again, I wouldn't say no either.
That's the beauty of the time of year we are heading into. You can flip from Winter to Spring (and vice versa) within days.
Yeah definitely. The sun being out today does make me start thinking toward Spring warmth, we had such a good Spring last year I hope that can be repeated, in some respects.
However, like you say, I also wouldn’t mind a March 18 repeat, that gave me the most lying snow I’ve seen and we were very close to the red warning issued by the Met here!

Good morning all,
The dusting we had seems all but disappeared aside from some shaded patches.
Sun is shining and already above 0C so no ice day, already
Don't think we’re expecting as much shower activity today are we?

Aptly named by Chiono I saw the other day, my ‘snow body clock’ has woken me up for a radar peek and curtain twitch and lo and behold we have a dusting
Looks like we’re under the streamer so here’s hoping it continues for a while eh! Think Icon was the only model I saw to show a streamer getting close to me so well done that model.

It’s actually really heavy graupel here now!!
...and it’s stopped lol
Much like that here for around 15 minutes. Eased off now back to a few flakes but it’s left a dusting on prone places
It’s the first settling snow of this winter!!

Will the added moisture the low pressure off the SW coast brings help us today at all?
Edit: Just seen @The Moving Planets post above which sort of answers that!

Morning all,
Happy for some of you coastal lot getting a sugar coating overnight!
Some more dandruff floating around in the wind this morning but still nothing noticeable on the ground as it’s waayyy too light for that! Hoping for something unexpected to appear on the radar to give us a coating.
Im still hoping for something Thursday into Friday but we’ll see.

Some dandruff currently floating around, might have a covering by this time next winter at this rate, just in time to show @CentralSouthernSnow when he next logs on
Intermittently sunny too.

Not that I believe that’s going to happen, however there’s talk in the SE thread of something more substantial later on today/overnight? Have the models picked up on some sort of convergence line or something?
From what’s been posted I can’t see what this is based on but someone must have seen something!

1C here too already. Just yesterday this was showing to be our sole ice day of this spell too
On a more positive note I’ve finally got a few snow symbols for Friday early morning

Some showers showing over IOW too and radar saying it’s snow... @isleofwightsnowgal @Isleofwightsnowgal74
(sorry don’t know which is your current one without looking back )
Fingers crossed for some long reaching streamers overnight and into the next couple of days!

To me that doesn't match the current radar in the slightest. Precip is way more west than that originally suggested. ??
Look at the timings in relation to precip on live radar.
Quite, guess it does depend how intense the precipitation has to be to show on Aromes modelling but see both the 21:00 radar shot vs the 12z Arome;

I hope your right, roll on the 12z maybe that will snap me out of it
Can’t you just go Skiing NK? You’re usually selflessly sorting out snow for the rest of us!
We’d send you pictures

My only experience of freezing rain is from March 18 in that BFTE. We had a lot of snow before hand but it ended up transitioning to freezing rain which ended up in a layer of ice on top of the snow. Was very odd, see an example below! I believe this was Storm Emma when we were just outside the red warning zone.

Also, very happy that we now have locations shown on mobile again (think it used to be a feature a few years ago). Much better than having to check everyone’s profile separately!

Cool. Seems to have stopped here, hopefully pick up again soon.
Anyone from Bridgewater Taunton way? Looks like snow down your way?
Sleetier in any heavier bits but seems more rain now.

Yes reintensification has kept the dream alive here, back fully to heavy snow!

Definitely all sleet now, has been switching between all sleet and quite snowy for the past 10 mins or so. Good luck to everyone else, should do better than here.

Morning all,
Not sure it if there’s a better thread for it or not but a very interesting read;
An unusual Ocean anomaly is being detected in the Gulf Stream, not seen in at least 150 years, bearing importance as we face the next weather seasons
