I’m personally not too convinced of a return to much in the way of Atlantic dominated weather just yet. This weekend had its cold weather pushed back, erased, then upgraded. I think northerlies are always a pain to forecast. Definitely not sold on a return to too much in the way of mild weather unless we get to the end of the month and the pattern is still strong. And even if winds back westerly there’s nothing to say that it would last long. Indeed, the first half to December in the coldest winters usually is a period of the puzzle pieces being put together, so no downbeat feelings from me tonight. I wouldn’t be bold enough to say “expect cold upgrades” but definitely don’t discount them either.

    Lots of snow to come

My thoughts of this winter 2021-22 .. another milder than average winter..this would be the 3rd winter since the beast from the east, we barely seen a snow flake here in the South Wales valleys. With the earth's temperature rising the days of snowy winters will be just a distant memory. I'm 47 years old and only the once I ever can remember a truly wonderful snowy winter..1981-82 .snow drifts higher than my front door, since then nothing to right home about. People hyped up December to remember 2010 sorry the best was just curb side deep here in South Wales, sad times ahead for snow lovers unfortunately and olso myself

    Burrr humbug

Aye, the slider on Tuesday largely misses us (though some light precipitation shown for the SW to the north of it) and then a swift snow to rain event on Thursday.  However, only a minor revision south would put our region in the firing line and sometimes these setups do shift southwards as we get nearer the time.  I remember the unexpected South West snowfall of 31 January 2019 was forecast to be over the Midlands about 4-5 days before the event before being modelled further south with successive runs.

mettoffice saying we in firing line next week significant snow for are region as they regen the lies won’t push to far into country so you probably find be upgrades come near time for us

We get northern blocking on the gfs run from T72 right the way through to the end. Are the models sniffing out the possibility of scandi heights. If so with our cold pool in situ the initial easterly this weekend and early next week could just be an appetiser. The country could literally get ft of snow or metres in drifts.

That’s what mettoffice long range update suggest cold spell  intensifying
