I'm an area manager for Domino's Pizza and I've had to switch deliveries off in Consett.

At the moment I'm struggling to see how this will even come close to a 2010-type event in terms of the power of the N Sea.
Lets see what happens when we get into the amber warnings.
It's certainly starting to gather pace now.

I was supposed to be heading into Consett for a 10am meeting. I'm sacking it off as I don't fancy the A68 challenge.

I’m honestly expecting to get snowed in up here, Sod’s law I took a weeks holiday from Tuesday when I probably wouldn’t have been able to get in anyway ?

There was a foot of level snow ?
The drifts still haven’t gone ?

-
The milk aisle wasn’t in a much healthier state either!

The Siberian Express is cometh!!!! I’m fully expecting to see Wooly Mammoths and Sabre Tooth Tigers wandering around Consett by next Wednesday ?

If everything verifies I’ll not be getting out of Tow Law for a while ?
I’m off to panic buy at the supermarket tomorrow!!! ?

Does anybody know what happened to Peterf who used to be a regular on here,? He was in Consett and I used to enjoy his dry witty posts. He was also knowledgeable about the weather, think he was a farmer. I have checked and he hasn't posted since Sept 2013. Any ideas?
He's still about, posts on other forums.

Just drove through Bishop Auckland and it's atrocious, now about to tackle Tow Law and the A68 back to Consett.

Just thought I'd let you know its been snowing for over 24 hours here in south Yorkshire.
Not saying it's deep or owt but some cars have disappeared under it.
Thats great news! And you are welcome to it as we have had lying snow since January. Not saying it's deep or owt but we had 2ft at one point and some houses had disappeared under it.

I'd be suprised to see 30mm+ in the newcastle area if bbc are to be believed. Let's hope sky are onto something.
Looks to be snowing on waskerley moors from here so can't be far away at all now. Any snow falling in consett anyone
Nothing here.

Sky news are forecasting 30cm + for Newcastle not sure where they got that from. Some guy on Twitter who does a forecast for County Durham is screaming for Amber Warnings.

Yorkshire seems to be getting a pasting. They are welcome to it. Hopefully we stay snow free.

A lot of seething going on in the NW thread seems like it could be a non-event for not just us in the NE.

*and severe weather enthusiasts. The snow will fall whether anyone wants it or not, so we may as well enjoy it.
I don't see why anyone likes cars, drinking, hiking, actually going outside the house (!) as all of these could be life threatening.
So in your opionin having 6" (12" if you are in Heaton) of lying snow makes everyday life no more hazardous than if it was dry and sunny! Do me a favour.
-
I often wonder why people get enjoyment out of life threatening weather conditions.
Surely the only people who want to see copious amounts of snow are school children, people on the dole and lazy public sector workers?
