Its a joke in Consett but for the opposite reasons right now.....temps and DPs slowly edging down, but has the most intense stuff now passed northwards?
Still plenty incoming which seems to be intensifying as it reaches us.
-
What an absolute joke this has turned out to be
For you maybe, would you like me to post some pics of our snowfall which is approaching 1ft? It might cheer you up.
-
This is turning into a cracking snow event!
You wrote it off 60 minutes ago patting yourself on the back for calling it a non-event last night lol
-
20cm was for higher ground. Stanley and Consett are really bad. See pic of Lanchester road for situation up here
Ive seen it, I posted it.
Consett will probably get 20cms today, go back through the thread and people who were watching the radar last night were expecting most of the north east to be getting a pasting.
Its absoultely banging down here.
-
The talk of 20cm + is a distant memory
-
Lanchester at 5am on the main route from Consett to Durham
-
Give it another hour and its going to be banging down.
-
Nah. I'm in a different place now. I'd just laugh I think... Though I know that will come as a disappointment to you, Hagler.
Laugh? That will make a refreshing change to the constant moaning!
-
NickR will be SEETHING when it starts raining in Gilesgate.
-
My daughters school have just text saying that it will be closed tomorrow on advice of the met office.
-
Any ideas what left these tracks in the forest? Those gloves are very large for scale
At a wild guess I'd go for either a moose or a sasquatch.
-
It's been snowing heavy since about 7am, looking at the radar there's plenty more to come.
The main roads are atrocious.
-
Just back from the West End of Newcastle, not a lot on the roads there. The Western Bypass is also clear. Once you get to Lobley Hill the roads start deteriorating.
Surprisingly the main roads in Consett are pretty much clear.
-
I'm off for a drive to Newcastle to see what all the fuss is about.
-
NickR I bet you'd be the life and soul of any party. Are you actually this miserable in real life?
-
WT you seem a very angry person! Are the painters in?

The BBC did downgrade this event this morning, the more organized band of snow that they had been showing had dissappeard.
When this was mentioned this morning people were up in arms on this thread saying they were wrong.
I guess the BBC were right.
-
I wonder if they'll deploy the army to South Shields! Sounds like a natural disaster could be on the cards :-)
-
Come on here this morning.... Jesus some people get a grip and chill! Radar and now cast there's still loads of potential....we live in the UK not Siberia - some people need to remember that!
I'm not sure what the problem is? In what respect do people need to chill?
-
Both the national and regional forecasts seemed to be somewhat of a downgrade.
-
Just saw the latest forecast on the beeb and there going for snow on Saturday for us so if we miss any showers tomorrow we should see snow on Saturday
7am they showed no snow, just shows how quickly things are changing.
-
The BBC forecast on their website goes for a largely dry, cold and windy weekend so god only knows what's going to happen as a lot of people on here are saying there's going to be heavy snow.
-
Exactly, Gavin.
All I said was it looked cold and dry for the next two days and forecasting snow ahead of that surely has to be tricky considering how quick things have been changing!
You seem to go straight on the defensive if someone says something that isn't to your liking!
