FWIW my summary would be: lots of convection, especially the non-GFS model later on, but all of them give us heavy showers at the weekend.
For Friday, yes... but not after that, surely!
Yes that's for today and Friday, can anyone really predict what's going to happening after that with any confidence?
Yesterday the forecast was for the NE to get heavy snow, within 24hrs that's gone.
It seems the best thing to do at present is look out the window.
-
Anyone sum up the way the models are looking for the NE this morning?
Cold and dry!
-
I'm off to the supermarket to panic buy before the pesky pensioners buy all the bread and milk.
-
I'm currently in Byker there's hardly a sniff of snow here it must have melted as quick as it came down.
-
Just started to snow in Consett
-
I said "I take it" and forgot to put a question mark on the end of my sentence, I certainly didn't state anything!
Knowledge wise im in no position to "state" anything about the weather!
-
Eh?? The "mild sector" refers to the 850s - it won't be felt on the ground... where in Durham it's currently -0.1°C.
I'm only asking, no need to be a idiot about it?
-
I take it the talked about mild sector is upon us as I've just been outside and it isn't cold at all.
-
The radar doesn't look that exciting to me, the band looks very narrow!
I'm sure High Heaton will get close to 30cms from it.
-
Good god you'd think somebody had died! Moaning of epic proportions.
-
Whatever it was has stopped.
The radar is showing something over Newcastle now, but not much is happening.
It was probably someone flushing the toilet on a plane coming in to land.
-
Slower? Just watched the latest forecast and it seems to arrive quicker too me, early Monday morning, the graphics show snow over us!
No doubt there be variations but I am getting that bit more confident we should be fine, its just going to be how much and how heavy the PPN will be I think.
I meant it seemed to hang around longer than the last forecast I seen a couple of days back. Not the time it arrived.
-
The warm sector and rain on the back edge looked to be further south on the BBC forecast this morning.
The second band of snow for tomorrow also looked to push through a lot slower than first forecast.
-
Fresh out there tonight, bit of a shock to the system.
-
Everything white here and still snowing but it is very slushy and not accumulating to any great extent-I imagine at slightly more altitude they are getting quite a fall-cue hagler to tell us.
Not sure what it's like up Consett at the moment, I'm at Carlisle tonight, it was certainly a challenging drive from home up until I got to Hexham, the A68 was really bad. It was snowing most of the way to Carlisle but had stopped lying just after the Hexham roundabout.
-
Just come back from work and there wasn't a thing till you got into Medomsley, roads in Consett starting to get a bit dodgy.
-
not so Hagler,we aint even out of feb yet.plenty time for disruptive snow still.next week looks interesting but still too far out just yet.
The elusive disruptive snow has only been 3 or 4 days away for the last couple of weeks and never materialized
-
Yet another quiet night on netweather.
Most people think that's it for winter, as for the rest of us hanging about clutching at straws can just about give it up also, Friday will be another non event imo.
-
None event up here, there is about 1cm outside, far from the 20 cm's they were predicting
-
Just drove from Consett to Newcastle, glad I came in early as for the amount of snow that has falling the roads are shockingly bad, wouldn't have fancied trying to get in at 8am
-
Don't give up just yet, there's a fairly potent shower heading for Tyneside. Presuming it loses a third of its intensity by the time it reaches Tyneside 2cm could fall. Just think, 3 showers like that during the night and we'd have 6cm I'm going to be disappointed if there isn't at least 2cm in the morning.
Even if you get 6cm's (wishful thinking) it will be gone by 9am
-
Light snow again here, the GFS looks just as good for tomorrow as it did that Friday night a few weeks ago, so who knows what could end up happening.
Where? very little precipitation about, it looks cold/cool and dry to me
-
It was belting down in Byker, I had to drive across to Blaydon and there wasn't a thing.
-
Alloys removed and snow tyres fitted as a precaution

All I'm saying is things seem very volatile and are changing within a very short period of time.
So trying to say what's going to happen next week surely has to be a low confidence prediction?
