Can report rain here at the moment, just started. As mentioned above by myself and a few others, was always going to rain first and then turn overnight to snow....hopefully

Just got home. Still looks good in the forecast. Im still feeling a boxing day 2014 scenario.....might well start as rain. Just got out of the car which showed 4c so we shall see. BBC still shows hours of heavy snow right into mid morning tomorrow so..The good thing is there isnt a breath of wind so evaporative cooling should be able to come into effect and lend us a hand. Can see the front is hardly moving so not surprised they are predicting hours of snow. Lets all hold our breath now!

Its still on at the moment! We shall just have to wait and see. @The PIT just looking at your station right now, temp of 2c and dew point of -0.9 would be perfect wouldnt it tomorrow? Should give us big flakes and fast settling snow. Heres hoping the conditions remain favourable. Some graphics show rain to snow, even at elevation so boxing day 2014 springs to mind....similar event maybe

Yeah i probably missed it, wasnt up early. I can usualy hear the rain on the roof and could this morning for a little while so was probably mixed in with that? Fingers crossed for Tuesday night, at least its due overnight wich will help!! Ranmoor forecast (197masl) shows heavy snow 9pm-3am and then light snow 3am-6am so you never know! Even the BBC forecast for basic Sheffield centre shows sleet and snow

Didnt see anything here, sounded like rain whilst in bed this morning and then just rain showers this afternoon. Shame really. Was hopefull at my altitude but not this time! Thought I might have seen a few flakes this weekend. METO/BBC still going for snow Tuesday night so we'll have to see....

Great wasnt it. Sky still flashing a bit now. It timed it perfectly for it going dark anyway so the lightning got better Managed to take a few vids on phone that have some good footage actually so ill sort that and upload it later in week. Best storm in ages, great Tuesday treat

Absolutely black as night now here. Cant emphasise enough. Clouds are black. Can see the lightning over to the west and hear some thunder. Looks to be a very heavy pulse moving NE into Sheffield very soon. Tried taking a pic but the phone screen makes it look too light!! Not capturing the near darkness at all

The amazing UK weather huh! Was like November on Thursday, straight back to August with a lovely day yesterday and now back to Autumn again today with some very heavy rain again..

Hi I dont think the meto take notice of the GFS, ever. They dont rate it at all. I remember Ian (BBC forecaster) saying something along those lines anyway. They just have lots more data/models to view than we do so make judgement call on what all that shows them at a given time. I think the website just pulls raw data from each UKMO run, so that will always change. I dont think it has any human input at all... -
Well a fun wintry morning for most. Enjoyed watching the snow. Quite a lot around Yorkshire looking at the pics on twitter. Had a little covering here but looks like some other areas did really well! Nice to think its only 6 months now until it can snow again by end of October. Its been a lovely late winter blast, enjoyed this week

yep, looks like a bust. main band gone through far too early, much earlier than forecast earlier in week. Only showers to come through now, but not much on radar. We'll see what I wake up to! Only the slightest bit of sleet in the rain in the past hour as it cleared through.

Was really dark and heavy snow for a while in the centre, like you say though, didnt last long enough!

Was a massive blizzard in the centre of Sheffield this afternoon. Great to see, and even more so to say its nearly May lol. Makes the wait until next winter less

A lovely sunset developing tonight! Looks like ive just seen a rainbow cloud, forgot what thats called though. Think its quite rare isnt it? Also what looks like lenticular clouds above right. Phone camera hasnt captured it great but it was really strong, lovely to see

Yes you can tell its March cant you, all mostly gone now, just a few bits left in the shade. Heres a pic of the tops of the hills from my back windows, just a bit right at the top left

Turned to sleet now, surprised really surely night time should have helped things. Dont know why it would be warming up. Models show colder uppers tomorrow than today so surely they are coming through overnight? The arrows on TV forecasts clearly showed a nice arctic northerly lol

current radar shows much of the region under sleet and snow, not much blue, its all green and pink. Ive often found even when its green its snow, as is the case now. Are most people not seeing sleet/snow?
