Hey. Nice return on the radar right now coming West to east through Sheffield to us, a nice top up looking likely. Tonight's fun looks like an occluded front coming through in the early hours so I'll be opening the curtains with one eye in the morning lol! Could be an 'interesting' commute tomoz!

Just raining heavy here. Typically now that its not snow forecast, look at the lovely strong heavy front solid over us all! Would have given heavy snow this morning rather than the crappy fragmented rubbish we got at the time. Damn it!!

BBC text forecast says hill snow this eve and morning tomorrow so you never know. Not sure conditions are right this time?

Well I only learned this morning that the ppn type radar is not accuarate, its model driven! I did actualy think the radar could distinguish between a rain drop and a snow flake (which should be possible nowadays) but alas it is not! I wont be taking as much notice of it now that I know that

some ppl doing well with a few cm!! Hardly anything in Bramley. Heavy stuff still to come over next little while though but we'll see Hate that ive moved to low ground lol

doesnt seem to be settling still, been watching the ground a few mins. Flakes melting on impact which is strange as its around 0c so ground colder with a layer of ice

bit of snow again yes, hard to tell if its settling, theres just a thin layer of ice now on the ground from the inital fall at 6am.

light snow again now here. Theres one final narrow heavier band to come through in the next hour looking at the radar so we'll see what it drops. Not holding my breath though..

Yes I have to say its another joke of a weather warning. I know were all weather nuts but for the general public trying to get to work today an amber warning will have lead many to change their plans and its basicaly been a non-event. Where do they get the depths from sometimes? 3 misses in 3 weeks now, its so frustrating!!! Never been so hard to get deep snow in Sheffield area than over the last 3 years. Its now just over 3 years since weve seen 'proper' snow. If id have put a bet on saying that then most people would have laughed at me. Look at the midlands, theyve had deep snow, when its our turn the weather front has been pathetic! Sorry for moaning, but ive basicaly been up since 6am for nothing lol

wont a slower front just allow the warm air to get in though? were risking heavy rain rather than snow if its slowing down

Yes and Sheffield looks to be a barrier at the moment, been a gap in the radar ppn to the east around me for the last 15 mins!

I could be wrong, just what sprung to mind as it seemed possible thats what it could be EDIT: yeah just checked the fax chart and the centre is around north of Ireland about now so its not that. HA - well lets see what the next hour brings...

The BBC Graphics are actually an upgrade, with an all snow event now and for longer....however im not seeing that outside at the moment

Possibly yes, cant see any flakes in the light at the moment outside now, but the radar is showing light stuff coming in for a bit so need to see with the next heavy pulse..
