Winter Cold

yes i hope so, i was really hoping we would count this down like Dec 2010...the signals, strat etc has given good confidence reading the mod thread from the pros etc.. Hopefully just a blip! Thanks for the replies on the weather station. I think Davis is the way to go, cant stretch to a pro as thats a bit steep when ive still got plenty to do to the house haha! Think ill get the Vue though

So then..its my birthday in a few weeks and now I have my own house I am finaly going to get a 'proper' weather station Cant wait, but thought id ask for some advice from you guys on here as im sure many of you have them, some I know for sure do @The PIT and @vizzy2004 for example. You both use Davis stuff? I do read that they are the best, but its annoying you have to buy the data logger seperatly as others include it in the price/unit. Very cheeky! Also I hate the console, looks like something out of the 1970s lol, what posesed them with that? should be a lovely colour tablet nowadays... Anyway, any insights or advice would be most appreciated, thanks

Well yes just maybe we'll get a good break in the UK for once! Met have been bullish all week and not wavered plus their press release today is backing the cold up... Do we dare to dream!!

Can't see this coming to anything. Front is almost stalled and breaking up before it reaches Sheffield from the front. Not had more then 1cm all winter so far, rubbish...

Snowing in Sheffield now, light but steady. It's not selling though, is wet on the ground now. Very surprising given the temps last night, would have thought the ground would have still been below zero! Hope it settles later!

Nothing overnight here despite radar being pink most of the night over the region, must have been evaporating in the air. Not expecting much today, front hardly moving and may not be anything left on it by time it gets to Sheffield...

Yes a few bits on the car this morning and now snowing lightly in Sheffield city centre. Radar pepping up for sure

plain old rain here. Even car only showing 2.5c but not even a hint of sleet which is a bit surprising

Yep weekend and next week is upgrading quickly! How often do we see that in the models, usually other way round lol.... Hopefully a proper cold spell coming now, best in a few years I hope, can't quite relax yet though p.s some good snow showers in Sheffield today, a nice appetiser!

exactly what ive just said! doesnt seem to happen now does it. All the snow so far this winter has been very light with no depth really. Around here anyway

About the same here. Been nice to see this morning so can't complain too much, and it's nice it's come on a Sunday so it's not causing chaos lol!!

supposed to be the best in the world isnt it but doesnt seem so for our patch a lot of the time....its just frustrating. Like you say they must have short range models too so why is it so wrong at short notice. Even if they fed symbols in from NMM,EURO4 etc it would probably show a lot more accurately.

haha, yes i thought that too when i saw the symbols on BBC weather this morning. Useless! The sooner we lose the METO and have a go with someone else the better. That keeps getting delayed though, its a year late now
