  1. Evaporative cooling may be going on lowing the WBFL Heavier precip not far away from me..
  2. Hi the parameters look OK temperature & dew point where you are the WBFL must be too high.
  3. Rampkin Yamkin: 'Gritters will be deployed at 03:00 hrs in the Croydon Borough treating A & B routes' Ice is not a concern here I assume it's to do with possible snowfall - thoughts?
  4. Heavy snow for some of you could give a good covering. Let it Snow! Let it Snow!
  5. No changes to forecast tomorrow. Rain, sleet and snow arriving between 06:00 and 10:00 Sat morning Will be setting alarm for 5am in case I succumb to tiredness. It seems the mild sector is behind the main body of precipitation so possible sleet/snow on leading edge looks to start of as snow and then turn to rain. I will take it! https://mobile.twitter.com/EssexWeather/status/667775010564669440?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet
  6. It's reassuring quite a few have seen your first flakes it was not forecasted?
  7. I was looking at the lamppost avidly as you do and I could have sworn I saw some flakes mixed in. Moderate showers quickly passed through intensity may play a large factor here.
  8. Cold icy rain currently it doesn't seem that far off from resembling something more wintry.
  9. Yes, seeing the other frames that seems to be the case. The blob has weakened hopefully it peps up but I really do doubt that as typical of last winter.
  10. It will be of rain simply not cold enough however I'm looking at this blob to the NW. My first artistry of the winter season. I will say if it does not disintegrate this could produce snow for a few.
  11. That's good to hear We have no dreaded mild sector to contend with currently it will be good to utilise the coming hours we have when it is more optimal to snow.
  12. According to E4 expect precipitation to turn wintry towards midnight for our region. I even have a snow symbol for midnight!!
  13. Oddly you was talking about settling snow lol I assumed you was quite confident I do think you'll see the white stuff being to the west of London out in deepest/darkest Surrey Ideally you want that for snow to settle and to some extent those onshore winds will have a impact on coastal towns by the warm North Sea the air ain't really warmer - although it may cause some convention, it will probably just be just rain, sleet at a push along coast. I have an idea we will be surprised about the outcome. I've cursed it now
  14. To be truthful I will be sattisfied with seeing snow fall I'm not asking for much perhaps I am. Snow reports to the N/W the bitter PM air is working its way down the country. Far too warm at the moment 7C the dew point is going the right way though at 2C.
  15. We're talking about the Southeast here I'd love to be 100m above sea level it can be very beneficial I'm only 6.9 ASL and with regards to the graphics, bear in mind snow does not follow borders.
  16. The NMM 6z looks rather good although I fear it may be overdoing it however I take that model over the GFS hands down it looks pretty uncertain here although I feel this region will have some snow contrary to VP.
  17. I think you're right! oops: Well it feels colder here hopefully the skies are clear overnight before precip arrives. Every little helps
  18. "Additionally, some of the snow may settle, this more likely over some of the high ground, for example in Northern Ireland and north Wales on Friday evening, with a few cm over hills. There is a possibility of temporary, small amounts of settling snow even at low levels away from eastern coastal counties of England though most areas should miss this. On Saturday morning, ice will be an additional hazard, particularly for higher level routes." I will not be having much sleep
