  1. Last year it was unprecedented with the bloody OPI no wonder his done a runner...
  2. To be honest last winter there was a big buzz on the run up see how that winter turned out it.
  3. To see some folk like this sort of weather does confuse me a nice polar maritime airmass offsetting these murky mild days would be a blessing from what I can see this looks rather obscure - we're approaching mid November all is not lost. Minima & maxima are way above average there's very little diurnal temperature variation and I can't stand it!
  4. Did you have a epiphany?.....since I do recall you liking the white stuff at one point.
  5. Sucks being on a floodplain in Greater London for snow. I do notice it seems to turn to snow more readily here than elsewhere in Greater London the area where I live is quite suburban with the woodlands to my backdrop it does make a difference albeit slight! The observation deck of the Shard would be a safe bet 802ft //costs a bomb probably.
  6. Sea ice looks very good to me - we're struggling in Scandinavia.
  7. Can we go higher than a 10? Every mild winter follows by a depressed Daniel, consequently I take great relish out of a cold winter.
  8. The latest view from #space of category 3 Tropical #Cyclone #Megh with winds of 125 MPH tracking towards #Yemen.
  9. Lest we forget - may their sacrifice never be forgotten, those who fought for our tommorow.
  10. Atrociously mild here it is 17c and in my house it is ridiculously muggy due the wind and rain which you would think would provide some relief at the time of year - we've had such maxima in May & even June it's crazy stuff.
  11. Horrid weather my least favoured type as well. I'm happy i stuck to my guns with regards to a much colder second half to November, although this is not set by no means it's becoming increasingly apparent a +ve height rise to Greenland will lead to a cooling trend this has a growing support - exciting times a early start to winter would be fantastic wouldn't it? Especially in the run up to Christmas 'GH' are known for their resilience.
  12. aww a nephew congratulations - his a cutie
  13. Nice to see those hatched lines indicating snow falling over Scottish uplands the first 'significant' snowfall at +156 quite a brisk windchill too with the cold westerly Polar Maritime flow coming off chilly North Atlantic SST's and snow level may drop below 200m so it does look Scotland alongside far north of England at least is going to feel a tug of something more wintry in the not so distant future with wintry precipitation with elevation.. It has been a slow burner this Autumn with these exceptionally mild conditions it certainly will feel markedly colder in highlighted areas.
  14. Cheers...for the assessment Nick, I do not profess to knowing it all rather I'm just a amateur at the bottom end of the spectrum in terms of knowledge, just sharing his thoughts, perhaps it was a dramatised version when the reality is somewhat different. I do not confess to knowing entirely how all these variables interlink and what they mean so take my posts with caution, but I'm trying. I just post what I can interpret it may be quite incorrect although never intentionally however it's a learning process isn't it. I think it can be said some change is afoot and it'll be interesting to see where we end up trickles can lead to rapids further downstream if you see where I'm going...and so that's what is potentially going on I'm not so sure - the environment may not be conducive now and not so distant future but perhaps later it will slot into place, and hey presto we're cooking. On a gut basis I sense something is coming - but that has no place in here. Happy postings. @fergieweather//@TWOweather to quote UKMO: "Some deterministic output, eg GFS, have a N’ly outbreak for a time, although this is not the preferred solution" 1:15 a.m. - 5 Nov 2015
  15. As I alluded on the first page of this new thread the eye-candy would start churning out, I'm aware cold charts are some distance out, although there are the building blocks in momentum, some consistency here, and I feel such block in that region is very conceivable. The usual winter shredder monstrous PV setting up shop over Greenland locale with its purple tentacles bottling cold in the poles and preventing any attempt of HP from ridging in - but this does not seem to be necessary the case this time around I feel a great expanse/spillage of very cold arctic air is inevitable exemplified in GFS 18z and morning 6z, really just a moment of when. The PV has not got any footing in outer reaches of FI when you would naturally assume it would gather in size & intensity and I think this is rather fundamental the stratosphere may be colder than average but according to the charts it ain't propagating as far as I can see. I expect the MO are keeping a keen eye - expect by next week onwards for them to start dishing out the hints of possible signs of a much colder second half to November. I think it is rather silly to dismiss, we've seen the MO extended outlook flip a lot in past years. The rollercoasters we've had in here, all I'm saying this a entire different stage to the last 2 winters and for that coldies should rejoice. ECM +216
  16. A continental climate can be very boring in fact - very dry too, although yes there are extremes of hot & cold, the novelty would quickly wore off I like the climate I have in London, the lack of snow lets it down.
  17. The models the MO have access to are not infallible what Fergie says is yet to be resolved there is never a definite in forecasting.
  18. The Fog is descending rather quickly I cannot see any of One Canada Square, Canary Wharf - from my location these pilots have to be careful with landing. I'll give it a hour until we're back to the 'norm' quite unusual really but exhilarating oddly. London City airport has experienced a lot of disruption today.
  19. Spectacular image taken displaying the thick Fog shrouding the heart of London on a commercial plane. Very dense Fog where I am it's not been as dense as this in a long time.
  20. The Fog has returned already quite dense - there were 50 flight cancellations at Heathrow, this morning. I love these foggy evenings & mornings.

  22. Thick Fog in the morning this lifted around midday giving way to sparkling winter blue sky.
