glad you got snow but to be honest it is paltry isnt it?
I'm not complaining! That constitutes a good fall around here. Before last year we hadn't had so much as a covering since January 2013.
Before that it was January and December 2010 then you're looking at maybe 2 coverings in the whole of the 2000s!
This is a treat.

Just been out with the dog. Nothing like the sound of fresh squeaky snow underfoot!
Very wet snow though and very different depths depending on surface. Varies from about 5-6cm on some cars and plants, to about 2cm on some pavements. I'm guessing that the temperature being just above freezing has contributed to that.
Looking at radar, looks like snow easing for now as band is still heading north. Some heavier showers still to south so maybe a bit more to come.

getting heavier just as the traffic volumes drop. really coming down nicely in wokingham now, hopefully we're set up with this for a good few hours
Looks like a clearer slot moving up; must be all the anger from @kold weather!
Maybe it'll fill again that it has been doing for the last hour.

True, but at least you are not surrounded by radar returns for snow. I'm in the middle of a hole about 30 miles in diameter with showers that just decay every time they get close.
At least you were frankly never likely to get snow from todays forecast...pretty much all the models gave me at least something, and some were giving me 5-10cms, the worst had 1-2cms but...I'm not going to get even that.
You'll be really angry when that hole shrinks to 100 metres!

J have one of those symbols over me now in Horley - trust me, it ain’t heavy snow! I think someone may have sneezed and neglected to catch it.
Whereas I have a light grey cloud and dry on the MO app, and yet it's snowing heavily! I expect it'll stop when the heavy snow icon appears...

Looking across London on webcams and SE London = non existent. East very poor. West poor. NW ok but none on roads or much paving
Main roads are pretty clear here, but plenty on pavements etc.

We could do with some oranges and reds appearing on the radar now in the sweet zone in Berkshire/North Surrey!
Yes, it's looking good!

Yeah, its the hope that kills you. As someone said (I think Whitefox) I've invested far too much into this set-up to go to bed without seeing anything.
Oh and btw, the snows been so light, the ground is actually wet....so even if it does snow, probably isn't going to do much unless it has a bit of umph to it...which is not happening.
Local differences are amazing. Up here it just keeps filling: Every time I look at the radar it seems a drier slot is approaching, but then more appears.
Temperature 0.1 DP -1
Pressure 981.2 falling slowly.
Will be watching for the pressure to steady which would indicate that the front is stalling. To be honest, it's falling so slowly now I think it has already slowed right down.

Still coming down nicely here. Probably around a 6.5 on the Murr scale.

I think it’s time for bed Kold. You have been down all day, some you win some you lose. Let those who ‘win’ enjoy it.
He won't sleep! He'll be waking up in a cold sweat after dreaming about radars and checking the window!

This is some seriously impressive reverse psychology!
Everyone is praying for a cm of snow in Liphook! I hope that @kold weather blurs the private bits when he shoots the YouTube video in his birthday suit!

Yeah I am on campus in halls of residence, using the Reading observatory as my data atm.
Ah! It's a nice campus. What's the temperature reading there?

Dew point and temperature have gotten warmer over the last few years, fingers crossed the snow flakes become bigger and wetter.
Temperature has edged up to 0 here in Three Mile Cross, but still reading a dew point of -2. Snow is back up to 5 on the Murr scale, so snow getting heavier again.
Are you on campus at REading Uni?

There isn't going to be much more than we already have. If its not doing the job now, its not going to do it full stop. Sorry mate, I did warn people that I was in the screw zone...and by extension you are as well.
Remember, 1cm and I take a trip in my birthday suit into the streets!

Dude you've got more then I'm going to get all night!! Make the most of it!
Chin up @kold weather! Maybe you'll be in just the right spot for the pivot and wake up to a surprise!
Seems to be some filling going on just east of Basingstoke. In line for Reading if it keeps intensity.

Met Office keeps extending the snowfall forecast here, lasting throughout the entirety of Friday and into early Saturday morning. Im having a hard time believing that will happen but we'll see
The Met Office app has been as useful as a chocolate teapot when it comes to forecasting this snow! At 5pm I was supposed to be under drizzle, and it was showing mostly sleet from about 9pm.
About an hour ago it has heavy snow through to about 3am, and it now has light snow (which is correct), dry until 11pm, light snow until 2am and then heavy snow until 6am! It's making it up as it goes along!

In to the lighter band of PPN now; back to light snow.
Temp -0.3 Dp -2 Pressure 981.9 falling slowly.

Hurray. Proper snow now. 4/10 Murr scale
So, can someone remind us of the definitions for the Murr scale?

ITS NOT THE CASE.
It's not going to be like this all night in here?
Has been so far and I see no reason for it to change!
If it wasn't moving north why is it snowing in Reading?

Back to a few flakes in the wind. Heavier stuff to south seems to be filling and heading this way though.
