Whilst looking at pressure anomaly trends is one way of looking at what the coming months MAY bring, I'll be keeping my eye on the polar vortex too. Hoping that it doesn't get to full strength. Here's an interesting one I found, it lists three reasons why we should expect a -AO this winter. His theory on low sunspot activity equates to a weaker jet stream and polar vortex certainly seems in keeping with the current state of things. http://theweathercentre.blogspot.co.uk/2013/09/3-reasons-why-arctic-oscillation-will.html
Some images of the January blizzard 2013 here in Snowdonia to stir up some excitement for the colides! This is certainly my hopes for this winter. This was taken on a walk during the blizzard, the drifts moving in for the kill. https://forum.netweather.tv/gallery/image/19003-drifts/ Happy digging https://forum.netweather.tv/gallery/image/19004-drifts/ You can see that the snow is blowing sideways, during stronger gusts it became white out conditions. https://forum.netweather.tv/gallery/image/19007-blizzard/ The morning after https://forum.netweather.tv/gallery/image/19005-drifts/ And of course no major snow event is complete without building and Igloo https://forum.netweather.tv/gallery/image/19009-igloo/
