  2. Just completely threw it down here in East Lothian, gusty too and I've got to go out on my bike
  3. It does look like change from the very windy/ mild origins air by Fri/Sat to High building settling things down for southern and eastern Britain. What seems to be the trickier bit is the low/s coming from more northern Atlantic could trouble NW Britain but how far will the unsettled weather impact. If the High builds more and take hold, most of England and Wales get a fine weekend, some great autumn days, could this extend into N.Ireland and Scotland Western Isles, you know the low will brush you
  4. Nowadays there are so many TV broadcasts, NEWs24 every half an hours a lot of work goes into the country file week ahead one, and a lot of weight for the 1,6,10 broadcasts on BBC but trying to cover the whole of scotland or the whole of the UK in 8 seconds? 1 min fine if it's high pressure but if extreme weather is coming.... Remember there are still forecasters broadcasting who are very interested, but have media constraints/pressures
  5. Ah loving the pictures of ceefax maps, that was the last job at the end of a night shift to up date or check the 400 onwards pages for weather ready for 0600 and take the phone calls if any were wrong!! Getting the outline of teh UK and not losing the Isle of Wight were a real graphical challenge and putting white everywhere made us laugh
  6. #IPCC #AR5 the Secretary General of the WMO sweetly told the Mail on Sunday guy he had a "ill posted" question in the live climate change conference in Stockholm this morning Read all about NO DOUBT this weekend Read the science https://www.ipcc-wg1.unibe.ch/ Working Group 1's summary for policy makers around the globe
  7. I've put all the stuff away in the garden that could fly away tomorrow and Monday. Waiting.........
  8. The northeast could see the highest Scottish temps today, enjoy. dry you out from Saturday's footie
  9. I'm under the cold Haar too, last all day yesterday bar 15 mins, of lovely warm sunshine, just to taunt us. Off to get a jumper 1pm hoorah, sun has done it's work, we're in the sunshine and warmth. Dundee not so lucky yet
  10. This one maybe sponsored by the SNP haha metro Edinburgh today, sorry its upside down doh . By line As the English bank hol looks like a washout, hordes head north Schools are back in Scotland now ,it's not a bank hol in Scotland may be reasons for flow of traffic. Not going to be that sunny in East Saturday
  11. I could say it is going to rain today and issue it every day. I'd be right 2 days in 10 for East Anglia, 8 days in 10 for western SCotland (-ish) Doesn't make a useful forecast. Every shop I go in today will be , "oooh hear a heatwave is on the way" I'm sure in the last article, one of those experts said we were going to beat 38.5C
  12. Who are all these people? It is woven together so cunningly, mentioning the Met. Office to give the article weight, when all the Express has done is quote something off the telly then there are a load of ifs, coulds, signs... etc August IS the hottest month, on average. "mercury climb to 77F", 25C is forecast today and tomorrow
  13. It always starts at 10/1 ish and goes down nearer to Christmas, regardless of the forecast haha
  14. Fujian and Zhejiang provinces, in eastern China, are receiving very heavy rain from Typhoon Soulik today and they have been sitting for days with heatwave warnings. Their temperatures have been >37C, nearer to the all time UK record, so a massive change in the weather as Soulik brings a dangerous drenching.
  15. William Hill are sticking at 10/1 to beat UK Max record 38.5C in 2013 and 5/1 for over 100F (37.8C) this summer
  16. http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/414533/Heatwave-to-last-a-month-Today-will-be-the-hottest-day-in-7-years More J. Powell 38C just go higher, higher regardless
  17. As I posted in the wrong place this is quite interesting, considering Chantal is just bearing down on Barbados right now forecast to move 50 miles north of the island http://www.barbadosweather.org/article-can-barbados-be-hit.php WHY DO hurricanes always tend to veer off Barbados? Or do they? Some say it's divine providence, others attribute it to the island's geographical location, yet others believe there is a 50-year cycle and Barbados is due for another strike soon. What really is the truth? ......
  18. Just written a bit on the wesbsite http://www.netweather.tv/index.cgi?action=news;storyid=5249;sess=
