  1. I actually think from personal remembrance , July 2013 was the hottest July i can remember. IT seemed hotter than 2018 and 2022..but that's just how it seemed to me.
  2. Yeah from my recollection there was a high out to the west of us and we were influenced from it. It eventually shifted east and led to a very hot July
  3. June 2013 was nice in the western part of the UK. July was hot
  4. These people who predict the weather so far off are jesters and nothing else.. How can you predict weather 3 months in advance and we have zero idea what the weather will be like in 10 days?
  5. I wouldnt worry about this summer being a complete right off. July usually delivers a good month.. Its very rare its shocking.. for instance to me... 2013/2014/2018/2021/2022. were excellent Julys.. so most Julys are good in my opinion. And at least the weather is starting to warm up now. I don't think 2023 will be an ultra dry summer. But we'll have plenty of nice summer days.. Like Michael Fish says. 2 fine days and a thunder storm
  6. I see, and yes the Express are notorious for that . been more heatwaves in the UK than on the SUN.. according to them
  7. I see the BBC are doing "theres no heatwave around"in their week ahead forecast this evening.. No one says there is. so why bring that into the conversation? to be fair they have been doing it for years.
  8. I think summer 2023 will be the hottest summer on record.. starting off global warming where the earth will burn to a cinder in the next 10 years. I jest of course..Be a normal summer this year and that will be mixed. July often delivers so i expect an heatwave in that month
  9. Flowers grow in most places on earth. even in the tundra (like i'm suppose to be living)Near Leeds can be consider that by them in the tropical south. But I digest. I think speaking on sunshine and length of days. I prefer warmth even ifs cloudy in the summer. Feeling comfortable is better than in early spring when its sunny but a nip in the air. And yes we live in temperate climate, but not overly warm. but far from very cold.. just you cant really go without a jacket/coat for most of the year. I look forward to that and like Sunny says plenty of good summer weather and i'll be happy
  10. The discussion was evenings in the UK/Nights in the UK. Its not warm enough most of the year to not have a coat on in the UK. So I don't get how people seem to like May with the lighter evenings than in July/August.. Though the nights are shorter they are warmer in the summer months. I prefer warmth to sunlight
  11. You think we need air conditioning? all year around?? or are you living in the tropics?
  12. I find the North westerlies are not that warm either. Means the jet stream is further south. which is very common for the UK. But you like May, when its often miserable then fine If i ever want to go to Lake district, And want to feel comfortable on say a boat in the lake. I'll go in May and not mid July. good advice. any bed time for me.
  13. Its freezing in May in the Lake District. You must have thick bones.
  14. thats because its very windy from NW air flow. You get the sunny mornings and late evenings.so the hours of sunshine mount up. As for stats. Means nothing considering which year your in and stats meaningless in the UK. 10 wet Mays in 15 years will alter the stats.. I just give an opinion and i prefer September to May
  15. May is typically wet for a lot of the country. especially in the western part of the UK. its obviously facing the Atlantic As for being less humid. i prefer things to be warm. And May over all (apart from end of May) is not a warm month. obviously there are cases of May being good. but overall May is pretty average.Just shows by the average of May. which isnt spectacular
  16. June and July 2021 was very good for the northern part of the UK. the south was stuck under a low that was stationed over northern France and didn't go anywhere. Made a change from the south getting better weather and the north trapped under the jet stream
  17. Its it me or does it feel lovely and mild today?? quite cloudy but far from cold
  18. When it comes to warmth, most people know that September is often better month than May.. So i don't get the running out of day light analogy. Nights get darker quicker. But the days are warmer in September (in my opinion) Nights are cold most of the year apart from when we get heatwaves.. so its all about the daytime for me.
  19. Looking at the things. it does look like the last few days of April may bring us some warmth. But reminds me of the past where we have gotten close to the date and it ends up a one day wonder and all the hype surrounding it comes to nothing
  20. Summer 2023 will be a decent Summer. nothing spectacular or nothing garbage. Acceptable for all.:) so get your brolly and bucket spade ready.. just in case either scenario turns out.
  21. The Met office have been saying for 4/5 days. Friday 21 Apr - Sunday 30 Apr Most places staying settled and dry with sunny spells, the best of these to the north and west. Becoming cloudier through Friday and into the weekend, with a chance of showers, most likely towards the southeast although detail is uncertain. Most areas feeling reasonable in shelter and sunshine, though eastern coasts are likely to feel cooler in fresh easterly winds. High pressure is likely to remain centred to the north or northeast of the UK through late-April, leading to a fair amount of fine and dry weather persisting, although the chance of showers, mainly in the south, remains. Temperatures likely rather warm to warm towards the end of the month, especially in the west and northwest. Some eastern coasts may stay cooler, and perhaps locally chilly overnight in sheltered parts. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ "Rather warm to warm".. I wonder how long before they change forecast again? another week?
  22. I just go by how it felt and it was a cold winter. People can disagree all they like. But i'm just going by what i perceive. I don't take into consideration averages over the month. Simply because you can have a 4/5 days 10/11c and the rest can be colder than normal and it comes out warmer than average over all.
  23. Wasn't May 2020 the sunniest month on record? I'm sure it fell into that category. Remember it well along with the April. Due to the obvious (the covid pandemic)
  24. It's getting towards summer so I have returned again One can hope for a repeat of last summer. That's unlikely. But i have a good feeling for summer 2023. We've yet to have month above average temperature so far this year(i think that's the case) So i hoping that happens in 2 of the 3 summer months this year. 2021 was a decent summer up here for 2 of the 3 months.. all 3 months were wonderful in 2022. I hope that's something to hang on for coming few months a head. and make it a hattrick.
