The forecast for the next week or so is obscene. Unchanging, relentless dross with temps below, and sometimes quite alot below, average maxes.
God-awful. I feel so sorry for all the children on their summer holidays, and of course all the families spending £000s on British staycations which will be completely ruined by this.
Nobody can claim this is good, or even close to average, unless they're some sort of masochist.
It's not even a case of being "glass half full" by this point...there's optimism, then there's just delusion.
I bet you it won't be anywhere near as bad as that forecast.

Warmest month average max in SE locations. The Met Office closed down many inner London sites, so Heathrow appears the warmest even though it isn't one of the warmest places in London.
Heathrow: 23.9c
Kew: 23.8c
Wisley: 23.3c
Farnborough: 23.0c
Charlwood: 23.1c
North Heath: 23.3c
Odiham: 22.1c (118m asl)
Reading: 22.7c
Martyr Worthy: 22.9c
Southampton: 22.6c
The higher elevation locations would be between 23-24c if at a similar elevation to places like Heathrow and Kew.
Heathrow is always that bit warmer due to the asphalt runways and the location of the thermometer.

Yep, since June it’s definitely not been camping weather. Am thinking of selling all my camping gear if this carries on lol! Needs to be warm and dry for camping, otherwise it’s not fun for me. See how next year goes
Isn't part of the fun of camping being out in all weather's battling the elements?

23c with good sunny spells in South London. What's wrong with that? Getting close to 24c out at the runway at Heathrow. Nice breeze too.

It's looking like today will be another rather cloudy affair, though 22C at 10 a.m. isn't too bad.
Exactly. Yes, it's not wall to wall sunshine but if ya can be out and about in shorts and a tshirt( does anybody work on Fridays anymore) then things aren't too bad.

Just grabbed lunch, big group of school kids on a trip in central London from Spain or Italy judging by their appearance. Every single one in either a hoodie or a coat. Facially they looked, in a single word, miserable. Lol. Not surprised. It's grim out there for city exploring. Especially if you're coming from high 20s / low 30s and sunny...
Should've just gone to Budapest or Munich guys!
Or maybe they look miserable after forking out 40quisd a pop at Madame Tussauds. That place would deflate anyone whatever the weather. London is a pricey spot.

Sitting here in green Park London on my lunch break and my fingers are going numb, a first for me in July. Yesterday was like November, today like an early spring day. Atrocious month overall and year really. 1 tiny bolt of lightning all year, another season drifts past as a complete dud on many fronts. Zzzz
Fingers going numb?? I'm in West London just now and it's a sticky humid 23c.. You either need gloves or a check up mate.

There's the rain on n8w in SW London after the met office yesterday saying this was going to be a dry and sunny day. I don't look at the beeb as I think they are bonkers but I recall a member here saying they forecast unbroken sunshine and 24c. Seriously laughable poor forecasting.... again!

Pretty good day in London. Long sunny spells, none of the forecasted showers and already up to 23c out by the runway.

Well its another stunning summer's morning in London. Not too warm which is great. This has actually been a pretty good summer down here so far when you think about it.

Beautiful day in London. 21c and sunny. Breezy mind. Definitely warrants a weather warning. For goodness sake?!!

Another absolutely appalling day here .14 degrees and drenching rain with gales .Im off to watch a football match in croke park and its standing in the hill.. I honestly have to wear full winter regalia..
My cousins are going to that game too! They are Monaghan folk where I believe it's been raining practically non stop since Wednesday. Always foul weather up there though they do pretty well with snow in winter. Easy win for Dublin btw.

I don't think anyone flicked a switch in 1987 to be fair.
