  1. Well that was all rather tedious wasn't it. There was too many things that could go wrong and sure enough they did. And I am not in the slightest bit surprised. Serious amounts of time and energy put in by the folk on the mod thread for it to come to nought. Despite people saying otherwise, forecasting 5-7 days out is still pretty crap. You only have too look at the number of times the met use the word uncertainty and possibly. Very poor all round to be honest. As I have said before, until that HP to our sw does one, we can forget about meaningful cold. Haven't heard faux cold being mentioned yet. Baby steps.......,..
  2. I thought the whole idea of computer modelling was to factor in all those different parameters? I for one think they are all useless and strangly seem to be getting more so. Would it not be easier for all concerned to say "high pressure to the south of the uk will ocasionally ridge northwards after which some weakish fronts will effect the north and west, slight frost in places" Take out the frost bit in summer and theres your forecast. Simplistic I know but for 99.9% population who are'nt particularly interested it would suffice and 99% of the time would be accurate.
  3. Looks like any 'cold' will be fleeting. Actually any vaguely interesting weather will be fleeting. Beeb 10 day going for HP to move in late next week. My prediction is it will slip SE into the continent and sit there for an age! We know the rest.
  4. I have seen stormier fays in July! Not s drop of rain either. Hopeless forecasting yet again.
  5. You wont be very popular on the Mod Thread if that were to happen. They love a good old AH slug over on there!
  6. I haven't looked at the other thread yet but i dare say they must be all a titter now theres a good long period if AH October 'heat' coming up. Strange on a weather enthusiasts website but there we are.
  7. Just had a look on the other thread. Dead as a dodo on there yet there looks to be some proper major weather on the way. Fair play to Knocker by the way! Now if there were endless weeks of dry boring high pressure forecast the thread would be buzzing with excitement?!? I can never understand that with a weather enthusiasts website. Very strange.
  8. Yes,great to see. Some actual weather! Won't please the high pressure fans over on the 'mystic meg thread'but hey, it is now autumn!
  9. Quite a few bright flashes here in SW19 but thunder quite distant to the south. All rather strange. Tipping it down now though.
  10. Funny thing is this time last week under the so called unsettled and changeable spelling was sunny with' 25c. Never ceases to amaze me over on the expert thread, their obsession with 'azores ridging'? Usually ends up dull and humid.
  11. Oh so this is what a mini heatwave that the lads on the mod thread etc have been hanging on about looks like then!?
  12. Another cracking day here in SW London. 25c already!! If this is "unsettled and changeable" as forecast then i'd be interested to see what "hot and humid"would look like. Poor and inaccurate forecasting at the 48/72 hour range again by the forecasters. Hasnt really improved in a long long time.
  13. We now have had almost a full week of dry, warm 22-24c,and relatively sunny weather( after last weeks deluge). Perfect summer weather with more on the way, some showers over next few days but thats good too. All in all pretty good summer down here, amazing the difference a couple of hundred miles makes. Two different countries almost.
  14. Models again showing us down here as getting a few shots of heat in next few weeks, some rain too. Really has been a great sunmer so far, this weekend not great mind, though a welcome relief from the heat to be honest. Further north and wesr looking quite dismal for the foreseeable, quite autumnal up there. Another poor ending tp summer away from the SE by the met outlook and models.Atlantic will soon be getting into its autumn phase.
  15. Looking at the model charts and the met extended forecast, who have been excellent recently, certainly looks grim for rest of summer. We have had a pretty good one down here.Several days over 30c,some storms and just enough rain. Shame further north and west havent been so fortunate. Always next summer I suppose.
  16. Why do so many folk on the mod thread hate the idea of some rain every now and again. We've been sweltering down here for god knows how long and the rain is sorely needed.Hopefully a nice drop tommorow, but lets wait and see. And,dare I say it,its actually a different type of weather! Max 20c in London tommorow, bliss!! Mind you, going on the last 3 days temp forecasts for here,it ll probably be 27c.
  17. They are rubbish forecasters anyway, and that includes the met office. Everything gets watered down nearer the time. And this line of 'wetest in northwest, driest in south east' ???Well no sxxt sherlock!!!
  18. Totally agree! Boring humid uninteresting blandness. Yet alot of people on this site seem to love it,which id bizarre, given its a weather enthusiasts site?!?
  19. Sitting here in sw london at 10.30 and its still 27.6c I wouldn't mind a cold plunge for a week or so
  20. Evening.... Anyone know a weather site that provides daily rainfall observations/totals in the London area? I used to use Mordenweather but site stopped in February, which is a real shame! :-(
  21. Well everyone is happy over on the model( high pressure appreciation society)thread. Shame the weather aint a bit more interesting for weather enthusiasts. Hopefully a big change soon!
  22. Looks like we are in for a prolonged period of high pressure dominated weather. Something like spring 2007. Given all the HP we have had over the past few months, law of averages suggests a 2007 summer also.
  23. Well, there's always April!. Got 2/3 inches from this in London in April 2008.Lasted a day or two aswell. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1584210/April-snow-worst-for-two-decades.html
  24. There seems to be some excitement building in the mod thread! Strange that, given the bbc outlook 5 mins ago said we are going to be keeping temps above normal and rainfall below normal till the end of the month. Very spring like he said, very bloody boring like in my opinion. Well I dare say the Atlantic will finally wake up soon after its 3 month slumber, certainly hope so! Yawn....
