  1. Quite a few bright flashes here in SW19 but thunder quite distant to the south. All rather strange. Tipping it down now though.
  2. Funny thing is this time last week under the so called unsettled and changeable spelling was sunny with' 25c. Never ceases to amaze me over on the expert thread, their obsession with 'azores ridging'? Usually ends up dull and humid.
  3. Oh so this is what a mini heatwave that the lads on the mod thread etc have been hanging on about looks like then!?
  4. Another cracking day here in SW London. 25c already!! If this is "unsettled and changeable" as forecast then i'd be interested to see what "hot and humid"would look like. Poor and inaccurate forecasting at the 48/72 hour range again by the forecasters. Hasnt really improved in a long long time.
  5. We now have had almost a full week of dry, warm 22-24c,and relatively sunny weather( after last weeks deluge). Perfect summer weather with more on the way, some showers over next few days but thats good too. All in all pretty good summer down here, amazing the difference a couple of hundred miles makes. Two different countries almost.
  6. Models again showing us down here as getting a few shots of heat in next few weeks, some rain too. Really has been a great sunmer so far, this weekend not great mind, though a welcome relief from the heat to be honest. Further north and wesr looking quite dismal for the foreseeable, quite autumnal up there. Another poor ending tp summer away from the SE by the met outlook and models.Atlantic will soon be getting into its autumn phase.
  7. Looking at the model charts and the met extended forecast, who have been excellent recently, certainly looks grim for rest of summer. We have had a pretty good one down here.Several days over 30c,some storms and just enough rain. Shame further north and west havent been so fortunate. Always next summer I suppose.
  8. Why do so many folk on the mod thread hate the idea of some rain every now and again. We've been sweltering down here for god knows how long and the rain is sorely needed.Hopefully a nice drop tommorow, but lets wait and see. And,dare I say it,its actually a different type of weather! Max 20c in London tommorow, bliss!! Mind you, going on the last 3 days temp forecasts for here,it ll probably be 27c.
  9. They are rubbish forecasters anyway, and that includes the met office. Everything gets watered down nearer the time. And this line of 'wetest in northwest, driest in south east' ???Well no sxxt sherlock!!!
  10. Totally agree! Boring humid uninteresting blandness. Yet alot of people on this site seem to love it,which id bizarre, given its a weather enthusiasts site?!?
  11. Sitting here in sw london at 10.30 and its still 27.6c I wouldn't mind a cold plunge for a week or so
  12. Evening.... Anyone know a weather site that provides daily rainfall observations/totals in the London area? I used to use Mordenweather but site stopped in February, which is a real shame! :-(
  13. Well everyone is happy over on the model( high pressure appreciation society)thread. Shame the weather aint a bit more interesting for weather enthusiasts. Hopefully a big change soon!
  14. Looks like we are in for a prolonged period of high pressure dominated weather. Something like spring 2007. Given all the HP we have had over the past few months, law of averages suggests a 2007 summer also.
  15. Well, there's always April!. Got 2/3 inches from this in London in April 2008.Lasted a day or two aswell. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1584210/April-snow-worst-for-two-decades.html
  16. There seems to be some excitement building in the mod thread! Strange that, given the bbc outlook 5 mins ago said we are going to be keeping temps above normal and rainfall below normal till the end of the month. Very spring like he said, very bloody boring like in my opinion. Well I dare say the Atlantic will finally wake up soon after its 3 month slumber, certainly hope so! Yawn....
  17. Well it looks like another borefest week or two coming up,weatherwise. Well I suppose folk that wanted the 'easterly' finally got it!! At least with a good blast from the north or the north west we get proper weather....and more folk see snow, even down here sometimes. Those 'models' really are crap mind, what dullard writes and tests the programmes.Mind you,99% of the population arent bothered about the weather so I suppose you get what you pay for. Better of asking a catwalk model what the weathers going to be like next week, and she(he) would probably be much more precise! " oh it ll be dull and probably drizzle at some stage, unlikely to snow"
  18. Yes,you are right mate.Even here in London we had few inches that day, lasted a day or two seem to remember. If I'm not mistaken it was Easter Sunday as well, may be wrong about that though!
  19. Yes,you are so right! All the high pressure that everyone was banging on about wanting just gave us cold nothingness, down here at any rate. Folk should be careful what they wish for.At least we have some proper weather on the way now.An end to this boring stuff thats seems to have gone on for ever.Plenty more types of weather to enjoy apart from snow, this is a weather enthusiasts forum after all? Regarding the models,as some other poster said,if the met/beeb dont mention it in their 5/10 day forecast then it aint happening. As for the obsession with easterlies I just dont get it. If its snow we're after tben theres huge swathes of Uk and Ireland that dont really benefit at all from an easterly, only the east coasts of both islands are guaranteed ought, even down here in south east its not certain, though you cant beat a thames streamer when it gets going! Pm winds are generally much more giving to more areas. And for all those who bemoan the end of winter as we knew it,take some time out and read the historical monthly summaries on the metoffice website.Think its in Climate section. They go way back! Things have changed little.Plenty of boring snowless winters then too. There were some exceptionally prolonged cold snowy spells in the past, and there will be again in the future!
  20. Well at least all the high pressure fans on the other thtead will be happy with the never ending borefest. Always found it strange why weather enthusiasts would like constant HP,even in summer!
  21. Probably the best post on here in ages! So very true, every word of it.
  22. Well so much for the return to cold weather after a mild blip. These so called professionals make me laugh( despair). Do they not know that when we get high pressure this time of the year, nine times out of ten,it migrates into central Europe and sits there for weeks!??!Egg on faces methinks!
  23. 13.5mm of rain from the storm according to local weather station in Morden.
