Yes I think that's right but there are also those that source water from reservoirs and rivers but aren't/weren't considering restrictions but that decision is effectively taken away from them by declaring an official drought.
I am not sure re EA etc. but could well be but Anglian Water says it used 50% reservoirs and 50% aquifers.
In the SW, Wessex Water gets 75% from groundwater so that doesn't appear to be the issue. Southwest Water on the other hand gets 90% from reservoirs which are at 50% and lower. But they're adamant that they won't impose any restrictions as they say they're resilient due to having increased the number of reservoirs and they're proud to have avoided restrictions since 1996.
Well that will be out the window if it gets declared that the whole of the UK is in drought sooner rather than later.

Will correct soon, GFS again going for 31 here and 30 on Tues, Yuk!
Then the plug on GFS needs pulling out and putting back in again as the BBC have saying the breakdown is Monday for the best part of 5 days, and we're into reliable time frame.
and yes i do think GFS are over cooking beyond Sunday.

BBC Says it ends on Monday for Sheffield down to 25 and the thunderstorms arriving late morning.

just faint hopes now that Sunday might be the last vile day! maybe wishful thinking but models apart from GFS going for cooler on Monday
Faint hopes-It's been on the cards on the BBC Website (at least for Sheffield) for at least the past few days and since this hasn't really back tracked as such it's looks like the slightly more unsettled spell may still be on for us from Monday PM onwards.

An official drought is expected to be declared on Friday
Now watch a repeat of Autumn 1976 happen and it pours it down for months since it happened just after they appointed a minster of drought!

Morning again,
Have just seen the end of the 00z ECMWF run, and it's a worrying trend for us Heat Haters.
it now takes until t216 [Day 9], to disperse the heat:
Not sure I'm liking the way the heat is lurking just to the S.E, of us. Surely not another kick in the stomach, as we head into September.
Sort it out Weather Gods, that's officially a Month of the Autumn Season!!
Meanwhile, I see that humidity levels are starting to rise:
LONDON CITY AIRPORT: Temp - 19c, Dew Point - 15c, Relative Humidity - 78%.
Thankfully, myself and 'er indoors had a reasonable night, in the black hole of Kolkata [our Bedroom].
We still needed two fans on, mind. But it started to feel a bit chilly, later in the night.
So much so, that we had to pull the Duvet cover over us. My Wife had taken out the actual Duvet, a few Days earlier.
Colette asked me if I thought she should buy a fourth [yes 4th] fan for our Bedroom but I couldn't see the point of that.
There would be no place to put it, for a start. It would probably just be circulating hot air, in a couple of night's time, plus our Electric Smart Meter, will be crying out to be fed again!!.
We're holding back the third fan, until the heat really kicks in but that could well be Tonight, if that humidity keeps on rising!1
Regards,
Tom.
And the breakdown for Monday has been on the agenda for a good few days has been on the agenda
And weather gods, it's Autumn from September 1st not September 22nd-Sort it out, Now and make it stick!

There we have it 34C to 35C widespread on Saturday and Sunday could well go higher.
Although The BBC website is still quite adamant about a breakdown on Monday (and has been for a few days now).

At least the possible breakdown between 14th-16th appears to be still there.

Heat to be back this week not up to 40's but I suspect strongly we will get a new record for August. Rainfall wise yesterday was first dry day for 18 Days. However rainfall amounts have generally been low with 7.2mm being the highest.
I expect more fires to breakout and with the fire service being cut down if the hot weather stays a long time there could serious ramifications.
Well then lets hope to god the alleged breakdown due around 14th-16th comes off.

There is actual rain on the GFS. It's all in FI, but it's something to cling to!
I've been thinking for weeks that the GFS Needs the plug taking out and putting back in again.

Lol this is going to be a busy place next week. Moaning galore with 6-7days of 30C plus in places.
Heaven help us-it was bad enough the first time round! Are we sure the models don't want to reinstate that trough that was due around 13th/14th August.

Why are people so hell bent on getting another heatwave? We can’t cool the house down still and it’s just unbearable most evenings. And of course the endless dry spell in the south. I’m happy for autumn to arrive now!
The Sooner Autumn gets here the better-in fact it can start as early as 3 weeks time which is the Bank Holiday Weekend.

Something is still telling me that something is going to happen around next weekend aka make the weather finally cool down a lot.

-
Oh god wake me up when we finally have the first day below 20.0c and it stays there because it doesn't look like that or a downpour that lasts more than a few hours is coming at least before the end of the 3rd week of August.

Perhaps next month?!
And the month after til it happens-the point stands and if i have to keep saying it like a broken record, i will!

That NW-SE divide that has been going on all year (Storm Eunice in February aside) can't last forever-the jet stream will have to plunge southwards at some point.
-
9.4mm for Sheffield from this morning's downpour meaning 1976 retains the driest August on record for Sheffield (at 8.4mm)
-
Seems There's been an adjustment to Scotland's highest temperature record during the most recent heatwave.
-
I still feel August (more towards the end) is going to be the month where it breaks completely-it may takes it's time but a genuinely think this south/North spilt we've for virtually the whole year (February and storm Franklin aside) has to break at some point, drought or no drought.

No drought here keeps raining not a lot generally. July just managed with 15 days and more without more than 0.2mm of rain
And we had a surprise shower early this morning too.
Now watch them declare a drought and then it pours down at some point during August (just as what happened in 1976 the moment they appointed a minster for drought.)
-
Surely August to be the month where it all breaks down properly!
15.8C and 124MM please-and yes we really do need the rain!

And which could come as early as Monday-yep a repeat of 1976, aka declaring a drought just as conditions finally turn, appears to be happening here.
