  1. Try not to worry just be prepared and stay safe, things can still change between now and Monday, but it will take a lot of weakening to see this not being a problem of some kind so just do what you can to minimise any damage to your property but most importantly to people and pets Posted Image

I am only 13 and i also live on a hill which will make the wind even faster.Just hope it doesn't get worse.

  2. The GEM is still adamant (and has been for over a week) that a very big storm will hit the British Isles at the end of each run. Still in FI though, and although it has some support from GFS, it has none from the other models, especially the ECM. Still needs watching though, especially if it is still there on this and starts appearing on other models, 5 days nearer the time.

    Wow that one big storm.

  3. Enough of Roger J Smith bashing. I am hoping for a cold and snowy winter and I don't agree with his winter forecast. However at the end of the day it doesn't matter what I think, as the weather will do what it wants to do, and thus it's too early to say whether his forecast is right or wrong as winter hasn't started. The best time for critical appraisal of winter forecasts is at the end of winter and not now!

We just have to wait and see.No forcast is 100% right.

  4. why do people keep banging on about bloody long range charts as forecasts!! for those of you new to this, (and those who are not but should know better!) they will change frequently.

what we are looking for amongst these frequent changes is trends over a period of time. i.e the most common scenario which appears.

even then, it does not mean it will happen.

some have mentioned the GFS 'FI'.  anyone who model watches on a regular basis will know that this is subject to wild variations and it only goes out to two weeks!! which incidentally, as of now, takes us to the start of november- two thirds into autumn, NOT winter!

as of now, nature says we're doing well-

Yes snow cover is doing well. Not a good thing that the snow is melting from below.

  5. This kind of raw easterly weather isn't so normal for October but what's coming up looks much more normal - wind, rain & mild temperatures with air off the Atlantic - suits me this time of year!

Those complaining of the lack of cold - it is only October! Compare October cold in terms of April warmth - possible but generally not very common. And then think about this April - it was still below freezing during the first few days only returning to close to average mid month. Even then we stayed way below average until mid June when it finally warmed up. Perhaps if we hit christmas and its still mild then there's something to complain about! Posted Image

You should read james madden latest post he may be right.
