  1. Well the ukmo fax charts for our area are snow quickly turns to rain on Thursday morning yuck!!
  2. So the ukmo & gfs looks Like a quick transition to rain on Thursday. Obviously time for a shift south. But all this started to unravel yesterday morning in the output. And as many of us know once it starts to trend the wrong way. 9 times out of 10 it’s goes that way ah well roll on the lighter nights & spring.
  3. I’m still far from convinced regarding this up coming spell. Just had a read of caticol post on the mod thread very informative and well wrote definitely explains it well.
  4. Well looking at the forecast for the week ahead it doesn’t look like inland areas of our region will see any snowfall. Looking cold but dry very similar to the December cold spell. Hopefully get next week out the way then I’m ready to start looking for some spring warmth.
  5. To be honest I’m not expecting anything for my part of the region. According to the weather apps we are looking at sleet at best with highs somewhere between 4c -7c and that for Huddersfield area. If we get some Snow fantastic. But I’m certainly not expecting much if at all.
  6. Think eastern coastal areas will do well next week think for us further inland will be mainly cold but dry which ties in with met office update. But perhaps we might get a dusting from hopefully a few showers pushing inland at times. But I’m not really expecting anything substantial for our part of the region.
  7. Well nothing really exciting in the models at the moment regarding cold and snow. But just wanted to wish everyone a happy new year. Let’s hope for some colder weather in the early part of 2023. If you are out celebrating tonight stay safe and have a wonderful time. And once again happy new year to you all.
  8. Freezing rain here aswell. Roads and paths are absolutely horrendous. Stay safe everyone. Don’t go out if you don’t have too would be my advice.
  9. Nice looking snow event on the icon18z for Sunday. But unfortunately it will be a blink and miss it affair with milder temperatures and rain pushing the cold air away. Never a fan of these snow to rain events. But haven’t seen much snow so will take it for now.
  10. Well looks like a snow to rain event for parts of our region on Sunday. But these for me are the worst types of set ups. As most will be washed away by Sunday night.
  11. So the ec46 is showing blocking high out to Xmas week now. But is anyone else seeing this cold as a complete snooze fest. They is literally no sign of snow for the majority of the U.K. unfortunately. Will this cold spell go down in history as the most boring spell of weather
  12. So looking at the charts out to day 8/9 it’s looking bitterly cold. But a complete snooze fest if it’s snow you’re wanting. And I’m sure that is the holy grail for many.
  13. Wow what a great Ecm this evening. For anyone worried about snow don’t be. As the old saying goes wedges make sledges . Locked the cold in and the snow will follow at some point. Once the cold does break down and the Atlantic try’s and makes some inroads they could be some spectacular snowfalls across the U.K.
  14. For anyone worried about the lack of precipitation on the model output don’t be. I remember a few years ago 15cm of snow been dumped here in Yorkshire that wasn’t even forecast or shown on any models. It was a streamer off the North Sea that just kept bringing continuous snowfall for several hours.
  15. Wow that’s some brutal cold so far on the pub run. Lots of snow potential for many so far.
  16. Well I’d bin the gfs12z this evening. Not one dartboard low but now comes up with 2. Absolutely 100% that’s wrong.
  17. Well I said it earlier that the gfs18z was seen stumbling out the pub. Seems like it’s had a few tonight. Hopefully we can build on this in the morning and into the weekend. But it certainly looks like we are heading into a memorable spell for December. Certainly beats westerly winds and a raging Atlantic which we usually see at this time of year.
  18. Don’t tell anyone but just seen the GFS18z coming out the pub absolutely sloshed. Strap yourself in folks.
  19. Sorry guys but that ECM won’t verify. And I will tell you why……. Just been out and bought 3 sledges
  20. Nice to look at. But we are looking at 13 days away to get any real cold into our shores on those charts. If GFS had been close we were looking at those coming to fruition around the 7th of December. Now we are looking at 14th of December. Yes it’s going to become colder. But I think a lot are wanting a little more than some cold rain. Don’t get me wrong I would love to see those charts you’ve posted to happen I really would. But seems we are chasing day 10+ once again for something more substantial.
  21. so it looks like we are back to chasing day 10 again. Yes the cold will be here sooner than that. But for many it’s looking like cold rain unfortunately. I’m ok with the gfs delaying things but can we really trust it. Hopefully a good ECM later after this mornings output from it.
  22. Not sure what to make of the ECM this morning looks to be too far west to be honest. Think I prefer the Ukmo. The ecm just delivers cold rain for the bulk of the U.K. hope this isn’t something we see unraveling now from the ECM.
  23. Wow what a cracking ECM this evening. It looks almost too clean. Can’t wait to see what little features may crop up next week regarding Snow potential. Might even have to now dig out my lightweight jacket up here in Yorkshire. They built us tough up here ya know.
  24. So the GFS moves more towards the ECM. Lovely looking ukmo at t144 be interesting to see the t168 from the ukmo. Now what’s the betting the ECM has a wobble tonight. And all the toys that Santa has made get thrown everywhere.
