  1. Do you think we will fair well in the east this time mountain shadow?
  2. If the precipitation charts are to be beleived we could be looking at a 36hr snow event nearly the whole of Ireland. From MetO 'Over Scotland and Northern Ireland 5-10 cm is likely even at low levels, with more than 10 cm over high ground' Things could get interesting. Wednesday drive to work looks ok......drive home......hmmmmmmmmm.
  3. The forecast between MetO and net weather for this week are chalk and cheese with net weather showing snow from Wednesday lunch right through to thursday evening and met showing either sleet or rain.
  4. MetO have snowing warning up already covering NI, Scotland into North England so confidence must be high at this early stage of something. I really think the east coast of NI has a better chance this time as the fronts push through from a more northerly direction!! **you beat me to it mountain shadow
  5. Poitin from the glens of Antrim, only cure Ronan!! Lol
  6. Net weather showing sleet from 9am on Wednesday thriugh to midnight on Thursday for my location!! Fingers crossed!!
  7. MetO have issued snow warning covering NI from 5pm tonight.
  8. We must have 3 birthdays in here today lol
  9. Your right mountain shadow, not going to make it this far at all.
  10. If you watch the radar the rain to the west has hardly moved in over an hour.
  11. The front moving in from the west is readly turning to snow going by the net weather radar. Its moving extremely slowly so rate of precipitation depending, could give some accumlations.
  12. Snow warning now gone lol Ice warning still in place. I think its a confidence issue with warnings. Forecasters seem to be having problems with this up coming precipitation event whether it will be rain, sleet or snow.
  13. Good point norn iron, didn't see the update time.
  14. MetO have weather warning for NI for snow and ice for tonight and into tomorrow.
  15. Fun drive to ballina this morning....not a drop here!! Drove home tomorrow should be fun!! The model thread went extremely quiet earlier today!! Lol
  16. MetO and bbc news giving snow showers through tonight and over the weekend with Monday looking exciting!! As mountain shadow said there's a slider low which is set to stall over the uk which could bring significant levels of snow to certain areas!! The met and other forecasters seem unsure as to where will get lucky but the east coast of Ireland north and South could be in for a feast.....lets hope anyway!! I can't remember the last time snow symbols showed up so far head in forecasts for us!!
  17. I would say from this evening onwards we could be looking at wintery showers once these winds start to die down and the wind direction changes more northerly. MetO where showing light snow showers for tomorrow am at my location but have upgraded it to heavy snow for a 3hr period. Monday onwards certainly looks interesting. For Ballina tomorrow so hopefully the weather is cold and snowy along with the pints and the bar warm!!
  18. Serious wind this morning again and through the night. Temps have dropped from 8 degrees last night to 3 degrees this morning. Rain on radar showing as sleet covering many parts coming from the north west. From approx 11pm onwards tonight metO showing rain turning to sleet and then snow for the early hours.
  19. Alot of rain showing up on the radar from the south west and west coming in. Anyone know if this will turn to frontal snow before this storm rolls in? The model thread going a bit crazy about next week with the cold and snow potential.
  20. Does the wind look to be more westlery now? Radar showing a change in direction of rain?
  21. Nothing at all reaching the east of the NI. Showers seem to die out slightly west of lough neagh. Hopefully this next band reaches this far. Steady showers showing on radar coming in now.
  22. Showers now showing on the radar coming from the west!! Will it, won't it be snow!!
  23. It's snowing quite heavy here now and lying!! All the wife has done is stare through the window....if it gets any heavier I'm gonna have to let her in!!
  24. Wind starting to pick up in lisburn to pomeroy, it will be interesting to see how intense it gets alright!! There was a shower of rain but the wind is starting to dry the place out!! Next week looks interesting for snow events once these storms have passed through!!
  25. Radar showing a lot of sleet over NI. Still just rain here!! Lough neagh must dissolve the snow before it reaches the east!!
