I'd guess probably not, but given how long it lasts the conditions may be in place if cloud cover/convection isn't a problem.

But you agreed with bluearmy re cloud and convection in the MOD thread.

Anyway convection/storms with this heat would be great, certainly not a 'problem'.

For me days of heat and no storms would be a disappointment.

As a weather enthusiast it is interesting to follow - UK all time record is not far off with the current predicted temperatures!

I love all the extremes from North to South in the UK and Ireland - any season of the year.
Why does Netweather have threads on European storms and tornadoes in the USA? Because it is exciting stuff to monitor and view.

It is a weather forum after all mate.

I am sure @DAVID SNOW sits down in Essex during Winter in 12C and drizzle...looking at all the snowy webcams in the Scottish Highlands.

    I feel loved this week.

Nice day down here, 25c sunny intervals.

    PS what's winter?

Put this in here as don't want to clog up the Model thread.

When the BBC ditched the Met Office, we thought that their forecasting would deteriorate, and there was some evidence of it.

But now that the Met Office doesn't have its primary method of presenting forecasts (the BBC), have they also become worse?

Clog up the model thread, now that made me laugh, its  open season for clogging.

What's the latest on temps for Heathrow on sea lol.

A lot of members don't live in the South East.

First injection of warmth all month this afternoon, after a wet cloudy morning. Think we hit 22 degrees which is the warmest max of July so far. Muggy feeling to thins this evening, feels like a summers one at last! Lots of flying ants everywhere as well.

Tomorrow might deliver a 28 degrees not the highest maxima of the year so far, but not far off and will feel very odd after 5 weeks with no warmth to speak of. Alas it's a 24 hr wonder, by Saturday back down to high teen maxima and that chilly westerly breeze again.

I think flying ants should be put in charge of forecasting the weather, they are never wrong.

    Monday 3 Aug - Wednesday 12 Aug

There are some fairly strong signals that unsettled conditions are likely to continue through into the first half of August, with outbreaks of rain and scattered showers affecting all parts of the United Kingdom at times. The heaviest and most prolonged spells of rain are likely to be focussed towards the northwest, where it may also become quite windy at times with a risk of gales in exposed locations. However, there should still be some drier and brighter spells in between the outbreaks of rain, with the driest of these conditions expected towards the southeast. Temperatures are likely to be slightly below average for this time of year, but perhaps near normal towards the southeast.

    Thursday 13 Aug - Thursday 27 Aug

This period is likely to see a mixture of dry and settled conditions, interspersed with occasional bouts of wetter and windier weather. The majority of the unsettled weather should most likely be in the north and west, with the south and east seeing the driest conditions, especially later on this period. Temperatures are likely to be around the average for this time of year, with any particularly warm weather being short-lived and generally towards the south or southeast. Looking further ahead into late-August, there are some tentative signs that conditions could become more widely dry and settled across the UK.
