ECM same as UKMO and GFS @120hrs, with temperatures back to average.
Nice mid August conditions.
-
Models showing temps falling back over the coming days.
UKMO for instance, has 'uppers' back close to average in a few days.
Warm yes and probably more usable weather for many.
-
A finish somewhere in the 17s is my estimate, ATM.

Not enough space so build them high quick and fast, then roast in side of them.
Another thing to kill the plant...... Air Con..

It would be interesting if there were more official weather stations right in the heart of London, or indeed other city centres around the UK. They really are few and far between.
Lots more wheelbarrow's lol and way to many tarmacked roads , buildings everywhere, green space reduced , what to expect......

TOD
POS
SOR
Rotherhithe Tunnel
COPD
Will all get severely blitzed before the week is done!

ECM clears the heat away over the weekend with temps returning back to average, obviously not cool with it being mid August.

It is also a fact that we all have tendency to be either glass half full or glass half empty in our atttude to the weather!
Very true!
Being sat on a bus in 35c heat...
or, sat by a pool with glass in hand....

Temperatures of 40’C have never been recorded in the U.K., and temperature records were being kept in the 1930’s
Correct.
Accurate temperatures being recorded in the UK are relatively new.
To say 'this' temperature is the highest ever is wrong.
Unfortunately we are missing many centuries of unrecorded temperatures and therefore 'missing' past extremes.

Hottest evening ever here by far. Still 31.3C
Make the most of it.
If the ECM is on the money, then early Autumn here we come.

Cant get my head around how poor it looks for CS/SE given it's a plume type scenario what are we potentially missing other than luck?
Understand the feeling considering how the SE has missed the storms for some time.
We have 5 days of potential, IMO excellent potential, I get the feeling it will be like buses, wait ages for 1 then 3 turn up.
That's enough Science from me.

Keep it hot and sunny or severe record breaking storms.
Tough choice for me down here in the SE.

Anyway, there will be storms that I guarantee 100%.
I can also guarantee that 100% of people wont get them.
Good luck!
And if you are able to chase and want your guarantee, then do so.

Must be all the tarmac and aircraft at Kew Gardens that is responsible
Nah, but it could be the fact that it is very close, if not enveloped by the biggest UHI effect , yep, London.

Way off the 40c that some said was possible for today.
For the UK to get that number you would need every single parameter to align perfectly.
That's why 40c has never been 'recorded' in the UK, sure it can be said that cloud scuppered it or a change in wind direction but that's what you have with an island and not with a land locked continental country.
