  1. will be amazed it it is not well above average precipitation wise ..
  2. usual vague wording seems to cover all bases !
  3. will be really interesting to see if we can get a great August this year that is what has been missing since 2003.
  4. maybe there is a car idling next to the station !
  5. been an amazing first half of summer for consistency must be the best since '76 ?
  6. England and Wales had turned brown long before August, by the beginning of July after the dry winter and spring in fact.
  7. Always look forward to Autumn and the prospect of winter , nice to know we are losing over 2 mins of daylight everyday now ! It has already seemed a long summer since the first heatwave in April.
  8. a proper scorcher today no respite in the shade 32c which is the highest this year!!
  9. I would agree with that '89 was amazingly sunny warm to very warm most of the time and only occasionally hot I think only 3 days over 90f..
  10. impressive cloudburst here had 6mm in last 35 mins everything is running off the garden and lawn as iota is so dry - great to not have to water tonight !
  11. For people who are suffering I cannot recommend air conditioning more highly - we have portable in the media room downstairs and had a unit installed in the bedroom and it makes a huge difference , I think its really taking off now in southern England. Nearly all the homes in our area seem to either have units on the outside or you see the portable exhaust pipes dangling out of upstairs windows like old fashioned tumble dryer hoses !
  12. thank you for that info very interesting
  13. just nudged 25c quite breezy and very dry wind think it will cool down quite quickly after 8pm like last night - cooled down so quickly the aircon in bedroom cooled it down to 16c and the heating tried to come on !
  14. then my washing will dry even quicker - towels bone dry in 20 mins earlier and they actually feel nicer than when you tumble them !!
  15. believe me the weather can be really poor in Surrey in right conditions in summer such as troughing in North Sea
  16. amazing drying weather sunny / windy / warm and dew point of 7c !
  17. just come back from Hampton Court Palace flower show and it was glorious but so sunny Uv levels must be 8, the skies are gin clear again today must be one of the sunniest periods of weather I can ever remember ..?
  18. The Met Office has issued its first weather warning for a thunderstorm in its 164-year history, after days of sweltering temperatures. The weather service introduced the new advisory for thunderstorms last month. Sunday's warning said storms could develop in south Wales and south-west England throughout the day. Forecasters warned it could lead to torrential rain, hail and lightning and there was a small chance of flooding for homes and businesses. It also said the weather could lead to difficult driving conditions and road closures. Source : BBC website
  19. just nudged 30c here in North Surrey for the first time this year and the extra humidity is noticeable and its quite cloudy with haze and cirrus. Shows you don't need clear skies for the highest temps. I imagine tonight could be quite warm compared to recent ones ! Having air conditioning at home is the best even if you only use it a couple of weeks a year it improves quality of life so much in these hot spells.
  20. amazingly high minima for around Gtr Manchester surely a record breaker ..? air conditioning at home is a godsend and seems to make sense ....
