Possible Winter Storm December 27th
vladthemert replied to stubbys's topic in Storms & Severe Weather
Glad this has time to change as if this did come off it would make 1953 walk in the park. This has to shift and weaken else the Effected east coast going get very bad flooding even with modern sea defences. At what level does the government need to take action to save lives if verified. -

25 mph with gusts 39 mph here veranda rattling doubt sleep tonight. Feel for those up in Scotland way and worst areas. I think XCweather wind forecast is under estimated the winds. Was only expected 30 mph gusts and 50 mph later in the week. Just noticed dropped 25 hpa in six hours -

Sorry should not been ignorant. Been following this as I was worried that it may cause storm surge. Thank lucky stars that black not down the north sea. But very worried for those in its target. I have read possibly 100 ft waves potential . -

cloud above just sitting nothing heavy just 6.72 mm/hr rate. Short and sweet. -
Was not sure to put this. Was doing browsing and found this gem. http://www.constantinealexander.net/2014/11/offshore-islands-amplify-rather-than-dissipate-a-tsunamis-power.html Its always been the thought they protect the mainland from being worse off. Quite shocked myself here we have slip land in front we always understood it as guardian and safety net, from the sea wrath. Although, thankfully there is just about zero chance tsunami here.

thanks Mapantz midnight could be interesting looking at that. All I can say glad winds are away from the coast could been bad for coastal flooding. Not good for the continent though Netherlands well equipped.

I wonder if its actually finding fuel to keep up its wind speed a little higher coming over the Atlantic. Just read Tony Gilbert thoughts says main system will remain a non convective gusts now but there is a post frontal trough may give some convection early hours.

there is some strong micro blasts where it ramps up here already got the odd 35 mph gusts. Even had 1 registered 42.5 mph just now. Was reading Tony Gilbert's comment he thinks there will be convective element Tuesday morning in the midlands.

is there still risks for coastal flooding for east coast. MET has improved warnings up early but wish they would show coastal risks on warnings. At least its not like few runs back that was one hell off a worry if we faced a 70 mph plus winds in north sea would have caused severe coastal flooding.

going to be fun tomorrow I feel force 7/8 with sea swell 10ft down the humber and winds pushing directly up the humber. I can see this might cause flooding in the lowlands around sprunehorpe. Sorry the auto to stop swearing refuses to say our Lincolnshire neighbour. -

only got 8mm here many storm clouds came looked spectacular but did not fire one did come down heavy, even the latest passed quietly sure the beast done some damage somewhere. They seem just drop off before hitting here which shame considering the summer storm we got surprising. -
