  1. Rain radar is mental! Rain seems to be changing direction at a whim? Firstly looks like tracking nne, then ne, then east, hard to say which way things are heading!!
  2. Seems according to the radar that Wolverhampton have a storm at the moment.. 15:10 is this heading for Leicester? I have to walk to post office, 20 mins there, 20 mins back and probably 10 mins in post office.... So, will I make it back before the storm arrives, assuming it's heading my way???? eeeeek!!!
  3. Looking at rainfall radar, the showers up Hull way are moving in a northerly direction, however the showers moving into the Midlands are coming from the West?
  4. Ooooooh errrrrrrrr!! Can't believe they are that bad..... So do they not use any weather service at all? Or is there a controversial forecasting service out there that provides dodgy forecasts?? You know, using stone scatter and tea leave direction after a 5 minute tea mash to gauge weather????
  5. Ahh, didn't have the smiley until I put this into a quote..... So, is there info to base this approaching heatwave on somewhere? OR Is it totally an unfound headline story indicitive of this rag.....??
  6. Just about to download this onto my phone... Thanks in advance....
  7. Measuring Thunder Days.... Surely, must be based on Lightning strikes...? I have looked back on a thread, but can't remember where the query was answered... Not all lightning is recorded by detectors? especially inter - cloud? So accuracy of thunder days recorded also inaccurate?
  8. Hmmmmm, nobody has mentioned this yet, and I do use the BBC weather forecasts as a basic start point.... What do you think, and could it have an associated storm risk??? I know it's a newspaper that's rebound for sensationalistic weather front pages, but surely it's got to be based on facts from somewhere??? Monday 7th July 2014
  9. Time: 01:05 Area: Reading Incident: Lightning See attached detector evidence for strike, but rain radar, Eigh! Eigh! (No rain) Any takers??
  10. Now, my Mrs says she heard thunder about an hour ago, eek! But to be honest, I didn't...when I checked blitz, no sign of lightning near Leicester, but we had had, heavy rain shower..... Now, am I led to believe not all lightning is picked up by the various detectors, especially in cloud lightning? Or is there anyone who can verify my Mrs's claim??? It was around 19:30 I think, poss a smidgen earlier....
  11. My phones weather app is saying Thunderstorms on Monday? See attached...sorry, see next post as it won't attach!!!!!!
  12. Feels quite muggy this morning, the rain band has bogged off east, will we get any convective stuff kicking off later, especially at Leicester Speedway, Leicester v Belle Vue this evening..... I don't like being stuck out in the middle of a Speedway track in a thundery shower......!!!!!!
  13. Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, unfortunately it's also the funniest!!
  14. What's the lightning chances for Leicester on Saturday evening?
  15. This is the torrential 15 minute downpour that hit Leicester last (Tuesday) evening around 18:30 As far as I know it didn't produce anything electrical, but it was a surprise as you can see from the attached screenshots that it was pretty isolated.. Firstly, did this rogue shower hit anyone else after it battered Leicester as it travelled south - east, did it strengthen, weaken, or produce any hail, lightning or funnel? My internet went off for around an hour so could not check visually...... This dumped enough water to waterlog any Speedway in its path.....
  16. Is that the net! Wow, looks massive!! Is it a trawlers net, or more of a plant covering net do you think?
  17. I would like to know where the net came from???? What sort of net, not the Wimbledon type was it!! It looked quite long, was it a trawler net.....?
  18. Jusr looks like Kings Lynn and surrounding areas getting T & L now... See attached....
  19. 14:30 Leicester Well, the level of overcastness is varying at the moment between quite bright and no rain overcastness (Cricketers would be playing) to heavy overcastness & no rain (they'd be off for light!) level!! And at the moment it's sort of halfway house accompanied by heavy rain.. Thunder heard now and then, but miles and miles away, what can we expect in the next couple of hours my friends??
  20. I have some sympath William, I get what you mean, not all rain is seen as aggressive, warm, viewable on the horizon as the immediate result of convection.... Sometimes we are under rain laden sky's, for hours on end of solid light rain, not a sign of convection anywhere..... Obviously the rain was convected to up there at some point, some where, but it's not generally classed as convective rainfall by the general public, we class convective rainfall as stuff that has been sucked up off the land/sea locally and then dumped down on us just up the road!!!! Not general, damp, dull, rain that was put up there in the sky miles and miles away!!!! Is that what you mean William?
  21. Now, I reckon there was a rumble of thunder around 15 minutes ago (central Leicester) but cannot be 100% sure, there is nowt showing in any of my lightning app's, so am I correct in thinking cloud to cloud and intra cloud lightning does not show on lightning app's? Sure I read that on here the other day, cannot find the thread, let alone the post!!!!
  22. Still very warm in Leicester, my exterior temp sensor in not ideally situated, so I reckon it's around 22c in shade, (actually sending 26.7c) but that's wrong, I'm sure...
  23. Any chance of Thundery stuff developing with Leicester on its flight-path today? All looks a bit East-bias again.........
  24. The last few storm days around UK have seemed mainly to track from the North to the South (loosely) isn't it usually the other way around? You know, roughly from the South to the North?? Am I mad to think this?
