What I like about this is it shows that an elevated storm during the day DOES have visible lightning but often it’s only really noticeable afterwards on video or through the photography. There was a huge amount of electrical activity in that storm but you probably see about 10% in the video always worth considering this when planning to chase. Staring at torrential rain is fantastic but is it worth all the time and energy (and money) if you can’t see the lightning? Well that’s the important question

The Atlantic is a major influence on our weather - if you look at the track of the weather on a ‘traditional’ day the kindest land-track is from Cornwall all the way up to lincs. This gives the biggest possible injection of energy from landmass-warming as the cells cross what is generally fairly flat ground. Ever noticed that most storms in lincs hit in the afternoon? Solar heating peak! unfortunately the rest of us are in breadcrumb territory lol

Yeah I absolutely nailed it too. Literally my best forecast ever. Saved hundreds of lives, probably. The Ilford tornado I’m predicting for 9pm might be threat to life as well - best for anyone in the area to find a 24 hour shoe shop to shelter in. Failing that just stay in and don’t wander about for no reason.

Caught some sheet lightning on that - and managed to screen cap and ffwd the playback - lovely incoming storm but hardly any visible lightning
