  1. still snowing here in DE4, Looks like it may head east towards Notts. Must be about 5cms now. Not to bad becauce wasn,t expecting anything. 12z still looks hopeful for snow from any breakdown from the West. Once surface cold becomes entenched it,s hard to shift. In the past mild SW mush has steam rolled in, and blown any cold away fast, maybe this time the cold air will put up a fight and give some heavy falls. Like many have said before some of the best snowfall has happened when we least expect it. Well thats my upbeat on the situation, probably feeling brighter becauce of todays snow.
  2. Notts and Lincs now incuded in Met Office warnings, if you track the flow looks like its on a NW to SE axis although XWeather shows a straight wind flow due east.
  3. looking out to the North West and over the Irish Sea there looks to be plenty of action tonight, ope them showers don,t fade away. snow eased for 5 mins but coming back strong again.
  4. working in the peak district tommorow so should be fun, still coming down, good luck to others.
  5. Cheers, great to see some of the white stuff, with christmas so close, especially after missing out for the previous few days. Just hoping for a good frontal snow storm, sort of breakdown scenario over chritsmas, now that would be somthing harking back to the 70s, and 80s
  6. Hooray, Snowmageddon has now hit North Derbyshire, temps fallen from 2.5 to 1.0 in 15 mins roads outside white over
  7. another beautiful day here, looks like a good weekend to come aswell, also some great sunset photos this evening taken at 7.55 (626 and 627 from tonight) the other two from a few months ago sorry if these are posted in the wrong area.
  8. temp down to 4.7 this morning ( 6.30) beautiful blue clear sky, i think its going to be a fab day
  9. rumbles of thunder for the last 25 mins, the storm that passed over Uttoxeter must close now. This may be the first storm of the year in my area.
  10. i saw as well, stunned me, to see the jet stream on a bbc weather forecast. still can not believe why i was up so late ( ha ha)
  11. fantastic now, this is heavy snow, car, garden and roads white over. 3RD snowfall event in 6 days here, judging by the models next week this winter is now starting to shape up nicely. If it freezes tonight going to fun again tommorrow. Lokks like the band is intensfying so should get heavier as it moves further east.
  12. moderate snow falling now, has been for 10 to 15 mins. car is white over and drive is has got a light covering, even though theres still salt and grit on it. Loks like another night of radar and lamp post wating. ( HA HA )
  13. light snow falling here, also the hills to the east have now disapeared into a thick white haze so, should turn heavier soon. proper flakes blowing around again. This will be the third fall of snow in 7 days here, thats 12 cm then 8 cm. Lets hope we have a good dumping tonight and Monday into Tuesday.
  14. northly movement sounds good TEITS, do you think this will stay on track for North Derbyshire, or slide more to the east. also noticed that theres quite a few members posting on the Midlands thread, this is confusing jumping between both
  15. looking great here for another load of snow. 12 to 15cms here from Sunday/monday and more to come. Only downside is i have an appointment at 10.15am in Chesterfield to see the consultant re hand injury, waited 8 weeks for the appointment. and will have to travel on the A632 Matlock to Chesterfield, heights can range from 160m to over 300m at heighest so might get to chesterfield but maybe not got back until Sunday. HA, HA, HA, anyway here's hoping for another dumping of snow. Might go out for pub grub tonight let the radar develop the ppn, see how it pans out.
  16. come on, its still snowing here, but not accumalating, still there is 12 cms and my location is at 160mts, i went for a walk at 10.00pm got back at 11.05 and must of at least got to 250mtrs and there was more snow depth, higher up on the routes to Chesterfield, Beely, Sheffield, Buxton, to name but a few there must be alot more snow. The snow did',t start in my area until 3.00pm but wow did it put some down. I must admit its not really accumalated for over 2 .5 hours BUT not bad, and i will readily admit it was'nt like the 70, or 80 spell, but all the same large areas have seem snow from the South East this morning onwards. I'm sure theres more to come from the North, and South West over the next few days.
  17. still snowing here, big flakes but not accumalating now 12cm, at my house further up 15cm
  18. still snowing, moderate to heavy then back to moderate. now on the laptop in living room wating TV withlights off. alternating between wating tv and lampost watching. lights of so typing in dark is tricky. Going out for walk at 10.00 20 mins should put me at 300 ms daughter said theres another couple of inches outside her flat so could be 15 to 18 cms
  19. Hi Keviwal. i 'm hoping to visit Biggin, hartington, then chelmorton. Take out then 11 honda, couple paving slabs in the back and some old carpet, shovel and a flask of soup, HA HA just like the 80's. this has been great today, not made my top 10 by a long way probable not my top 20 snow events BUT compared to last few years its been good. Long time since had a whole day of snow showers and 7 hours of continous snow. Hell after it freezes we look like we will get a top up on the old stuff, NOW thats not happened for long time in the lowlands of Matlock. enjoy the deep stuff.
  20. ANDY. looks like me and you have done well out of this today, hopefully some more tonight and later this week, I'm at 160m and family at 200m. I was up on the Newhaven to Buxton road at 2.00pm and they had 3 to 4 inches then, so god only knows whats accumalated up there now. I will traveling around the Peak District tommorrow and getting paid for it so could be some big falls of snow try and gat some picture. heres hoping for more tonight.
  21. still snowing here after about 1.5 hours of small ice flakes its now back to PROPER flakes and yes, its still accumalating. 12 cms now. and met off radar is showing another area of heavy snow heading in a westerly direction.
  22. come to north Derbyshire, good chance it could stop as snow all night then freeze, whoa that will br treacherous in the morning.
  23. many thanks for that Roger, have enjoyed posts over the years covering all weather topics. I have been trying to get to grips with the snowfall event here and your comments have helped tremendously. I'm hopig for some more snow tonight here. precipitation is still snow (just) more small ice crystals, but it is still accumalating but very slowly.
  24. wow, just looked at gfs temps out to 144h (if you can believe em )like TEITS has said to much excitement to look further but the temps are prog not to go above 1c here, except for one small breif period, where it reaches 2c (ha ha) could be the potential for a lot more snow this week. Experience over the last 30 years tells me that snow can pile up in the hills of North Derbyshire.
