  1. it's not too far from you now mate. cardiff should be just getting the leading edges of it now.
  2. yes, that's it. It is getting held up a bit by the mountains, but seems to be INTENSIFYING as well. once it gets past the mountains, we could have a hell of a dumping here. oh and yes, once it gets going, cardiff and Bridgend will definitely get some of this. It's huge.
  3. i don't know if I'm reading the NW radar right or not, but by the look of it, from the North East, there is a hell of a dumping coming withing about an hour or so! a solid bank of snow is about to hit South Wales.
  4. hiya PTFD. not sure if you know, but that is WHY there are snow free areas, because you have big drifts. i remember in 78 and 82 there were large snow free areas, but HUGE drifts everywhere. I don't know how old you are, but I was speaking to a 24 year old workmate earlier, and commented about drifting snow, and he said ''what's drifting snow?''
  5. absolutely THROWING it down in Maesteg at the moment!
  6. might be something in an hour or so. There's a large shower going over the mountains north east of Maesteg now. Should hit us soon. it MIGHT just slip south of you though. not worth getting excited about. It looks dead on target for Maesteg though, unless the mountains suck it dry. <_< edit - yep, the mountains are sucking it dry!
  7. we've missed out on this one, but there's a hefty shower north of Newport with Maesteg's name written all over it!
  8. nice post average there Peanut! 1 every 3 years. I thought mine was low!!
  9. lol just subscribed to the radar service for a month. got a feeling it'll be 3.49 well spent!
  10. this is going to be an incredible snow event by the looks of it, going by that countryfile forecast. some places of the UK are going to get HAMMERED by the looks of it. i think it's more a case of wait and see, cos they don't really know how bad it could get.
  11. ok, thanks for that. should get through tomorrow then. Tuesday looking dodgy.
  12. hey Jackone, as a self employed courier whose base is in Swansea, and who delivers to all the valleys(llynfi, ogmore, treorchy etc) in a single day, what am I looking at here? I leave the house at 6:45 am. what do you reckon? Will I get to finish a day's work? I don't want to get caught out here, stranded on the Bwlch!
  13. nothing at all here in my part of South Wales, and very happy I am about it too. heavy snow, means no money in my pocket. roll on GW, or even better, a pole shift that moves us towards the equator!
  14. Snowing moderate/heavy here, and starting to stick as well.
  15. Noticed the meto radar was saying slight precipitation over us here, so went on lamppost duty, and sure enough, there are a few flakes blowing in the VERY gusty wind!
  16. there is VERY slight precipitation crimsone. I just looked when a neighbours security light came on. A few flakes blowing in the wind. Very hard to see in the gusty wind. Give it another hour or so.
  17. meto radar showing slight precipitation over me now, but as I type, nothing falling. wind has REALLY picked up,some real hefty gusts about 5 minutes ago.
  18. seems to have gone much colder here lately, and the wind is starting to pick up as well. not long now I reckon.
  19. why are people so pessimistic? TOTAL amateur on weather matters here, but over the few years I've lurked on here, I've seen LOADS of times when everyone gets all excited on here, only for the low to dive into France and give them the goods at the last moment. IF, and I know it's only an IF at the moment, this low dives(maybe ''dives'' is the wrong word?) south as well, as it could well do based on past incidences, then yes, we in the south will get a battering, but the LONGER term prospects will improve for all of us, won't they? or am I reading the situation wrong? personally, I'm expecting it to take a more southerly track, based on gut instinct, nothing more. sorry if I'm posting this on the wrong thread BTW, I know you mods are hot on that!

  21. HOW do you explain why Greenland was populated, and sustaining a healthy population centuries ago? WHAT caused THAT particular bout of global warming? That question NEEDS to be answered! There are governments WORLDWIDE now, waiting to pounce on their populations with ''carbon taxes'', ''green taxes'' etc etc, and all threads like this are doing is PROVIDING them with the ammunition to go ahead with them! ''Look, they're even saying it's their fault!'' DON'T do their work for them! Let THEM come up with the incontrivertable evidence that humans use of fossil fuels IS to blame, then THEY, and they alone bear the responsibility for any consequences! NOT US, the poor bloody workers! We are held hostage by fossil fuels because we HAVE to use them to merely survive and stay warm in the winter! There are a very few people on this planet who are MEGA wealthy from the use of fossil fuels, maybe we should strip them of that wealth to pay for new technologies and damage mitigation that we are going to need in the future! If it IS found that fossil fuels are to blame, then it's a no-brainer! We HAVE to strip these people of their wealth! Though be SCEPTICAL until convinced otherwise! DON'T DO THEIR WORK FOR THEM!
  22. Thunder and lightning with sporadic heavy rain here.
