  1. I've been watching the radar on and off all day I couldn't believe what I was watching...north to south of the UK has been packed with streamers and a guess where the gap in them was...Fife...you couldn't write it an east wind blows and we get hee haw snaw. Devistated would be an understatment...so much for the forecast saying Fife would be buried today...only with them slavering pish that is. I hope most have had better luck than us.
  2. The few showers we were getting have disappeared...still cold though currently reading -0.2deg/C. Here's the culprit...hee haw snaw for Fife in this radar snap the streamers are all to the north.
  3. A wee dusting here as well with light flakes blowing through, current temp is -0.3deg/C. Its going to be an interesting next few days that's for sure...bring on the snaw..!!!
  4. Last look outside before bed...still dry, the temps are now...Air +0.5deg/C, Ground -3.1deg/C, Cloud -11.0deg/C...the cold is slowly getting here. The radar is awash with incoming showers...
  5. Miracles do happen it seems...its actually stopped raining...but its not bloody snowing either..!!! What a washout this past week has been, incredible amounts of water on the roads if this predicted cold spell decides to appear there is going to be some amount of black ice around...and if (don't laugh now) it snows the roads will be treacherous. A few snowy snaps from today... Current conditions... Air +0.8deg/C. Ground -2.4deg/C, Cloud -9.9deg/C and drying up, the road isn't shiny wet anymore..???
  6. Awesome snaw pictures everyone...amazing to see the depth's some have had. Here its been rain lots and lots of rain...pish'in doon would be a perfect way to describe the current conditions it feels cold but the air temp is reading a tropical +3.9deg/C the wind is making it feel cold. Overnight could possibly see the temperature not falling much bellow the day time max which is never a good thing to see in winter...only a few of more days of this horrid wet weather and it will hopfully change for the better i.e. colder and snawier...canny wait.
  7. A cold raw day Wednesday max temp 1-2deg/C and sleet all day...all very frustrating, at some points it looked like it was chilling down as the pavements were starting to white over only to melt away again, the fields are saturated and lots of run off making some big puddles...I liked this shot from my dashcam. I'd been keeping an eye on the radar all day, north of the central belt and south of edinburgh appeared to have snow and well done if you did, here however was just a re-run from Tuesday. I watched the Met Office ten day trend...where did the mild blip crap come from before the cold sets in I can't remember seeing this anywhere..??? Current temps are...Air +1.1deg/C, Ground -0.8deg/C, Cloud -1.4deg/C and sleety pish falling from the sky.
  8. Just as I saw your post the temp is now back up at +1.3deg/C....we must be right on the edge of the milder / cold air.
  9. The temperature has been all over the place this evening...when I got home fom work it was around the 1deg/C mark and was up as high as 1.7deg/C now its reading 0.6deg/C and at last there now appears to be a wintry mix showing on the lamp post. I was having a look at the pressure charts on the beeb and I think it quite clearly shows why there is more of a sleety mix rather than snow. Today...there is definitely a mild mix of air in this one. Thursday...starts to draw colder air into the mix. Saturday...is looking better still. Sunday...now we have the North Sea getting going. Monday...full flow North Sea streamers...awesome. All of this subject to change of course..!!!
  10. Here is our snow gauge...at 350m Benarty Hill looking great with a nice ice top, Kelty cross is 142m up and the motorway fly-over is 180m so the snow is not that far away just a wee bit colder and the freezing level will drop and the snaw will come...that's what I keep telling myself anyway.
  11. I hate when I'am right about the weather...all we've had today is horrible manky grey sleety pish, try as it might it couldn't bring itself to snaw, what makes it worse is its bloody freezing out there and hardly a white flake to be seen...I did get excited for a minute but it was a short lived burst of wet snow which instantly turned back to rain. Then I found the cause...Mossmorran and that bloody flame warming the air up and melting aw the snaw..!!!
  12. I had to double check to see if I hadn't clicked the on daft thread by mistake...the excitement is ramping up in here is it not...have you lot not seen snaw before..??? We've had a wee dusting earlier on it was just enough to whiten the road, it does feel quite bitter outside even though its only showing +0.5deg/C air temp, I have absolutley no idea what to expect in the next few days best just to look out the window to see whats happening I think.
  13. For around here all I see from this is sleety pish...so close but no cigar.
  14. I noticed some light cloud has floated over so I took a temperature reading a frigid -36.4deg/C that's bloody cold in anyone's book. The ground is only -3.4deg/C and air holding steady at -0.6deg/C. Shame there are no showers forecast overnight...just being snaw greedy again.
  15. Chilly day today it topped out around 3deg/C...the temperatures dropped pretty rapid when the sun went down currently sitting at -0.6deg/C. I'am still not sure about Tuesday and Wednesday even this close it all seems to be up in the air...someone is going to get a decent snowfall I'am just not sure it will be here. I was in the shed this afternoon and this was sitting there...I couldn't bring myself to take it out as it's a bloody jinx for cold and snaw...could this be the source of the Fife snaw shield..???
  16. An overnight low of -2.2deg/C and another wee dusting of snow. I don't know about anyone else but I'am really enjoying this winter I just love seeing everything covered in white.
  17. I see the daft thread is getting wound up again...I don't blame them because if this comes off we'll be up to our neck's in snaw The Met Office is now showing sleet/snow here from Monday evening right through till Thursday early doors...the Beeb on the other hand is showing light snow / sleet / rain...I wonder how far off they will be this time.
  18. Morning all...a wee dusting here as well, after an overnight low of -1.1deg/C its now +0.2deg/C there are a few heavy looking shower clouds around, the radar is showing them coming straight off the sea heading in land.
  19. What a manky grey cold day it has been what was left of the snow has all washed away...it was good while it lasted. Currently its lashing down with rain bloody cold rain at that its showing 2.0deg/C outside the ground and cloud temp is 0.4deg/C. The radar say's it all... Looking at the freezing level its clear to see why there is no snow around the central belt we are on the wrong side of the transition line. Saturday however shows the freezing level much more favourable but no weather fronts around unfortunately. I came across this site it has some interesting charts. Weather Map and Snow Conditions for Scotland WWW.SNOW-FORECAST.COM Snow forecast map for Scotland showing snow accumulation over the next 10 days and past 7 days, plus snow reports, live weather conditions and webcams. Find the best snow conditions in Scotland for skiing...
  20. Here at 22:30 its...Air +0.8deg/C, Ground -2.1deg/C, Cloud Base -14.6deg/C At around 6pm it was A+1.2, G+0.8, C.B.-15.6 With those temperatures you would think any precipitation would be snow. The Beeb Weather is showing rain all day for us Thursday. However one of the charts is still showing snow. At best I think it will be sleety pish or baltic cold rain...fingers crossed for the white stuff though.
  21. It started snowing here just before I went to bed last night I managed to get a lamp post shot...the flakes were huge but didn't show up too well in the pic. It covered pretty quickly so my hopes were high for a decent wee snow fall overnight. Something I've been interested in recently is the temperature of the bottom of the cloud layer, I realise pointing an infrared thermometer at the sky is not a very accurate method but it gives a reading all the same. So late afternoon on Sunday the cloud reading was -11.8deg/C and when it started to snow -1.2deg/C a massive difference in temperature when the snow arrived, come the morning there was a slighly crunchy slushy mess hardly anything had accumulated, and during the day we had light drizzle making it thawed out a bit. Current temperatures are... Cloud -7.2deg/C Ground -1.2deg/C Air +0.6deg/C Thursday is showing sleet and rain for here (gutted)...hopefully some will get another good fall of snaw to keep this so far excellent winter going for a while yet.
  22. I'am loving the pictures everyone...Scotland is beautiful place and even lovelier when coverd in snow. The last few days have been superb this is the kind of winter weather I like, it snow's then the cold digs in and we get frosty nights keeping the snow around for days on end...awesome. I snapped this the one the other morning early doors before anyone drove down the road. The lowest temps have been on Friday (-4.7deg/C) and Saturday (-4.8deg/C) with the frost lasting all day out of the sun. Tuesday looks promising...but it depends how far north it travels. And Thursday as this front moves through fingers crossed its cold enough for us here in Fife to get snow instead of pishy sleet.
  23. That was a long read catching up on all the posts from today...and isn't it amazing to see the excitement a wee drop of snaw brings. Its been steadily snowing for a good few hours but not much has accumulated I'd guess around an inch or so and its wet snow its already running of the cars windscreens...I'am not sure what to expect overnight a degree or two colder will swing it in the right direction so not to wake up to a slushy pish mess. The ground is showing -1.2deg/C, cloud -2.1deg/C, air +0.1deg/C its been hovering around this all evening. Storm what storm there is not a hint of wind outside in fact the snow is falling straight down. Lamp post pic...
  24. I just had a keek outside and its...snawing...that's a nice surprise as earlier on it was just very cold pishy rain. I've not had much time for weather watching this last week or so but looking back the thread its good to see that some have had decent snow and again the pictures are excellent...here we seem to be on the fringes of any snow so far this winter 1" max I would say is all that's fallen its quite frustrating but some is better than none I suppose. If I could find the Fife Snaw Shield this would be the result - https://external-preview.redd.it/FSOQBEHx4GN_ZNjBpsneYCpc1NrwZCKfZdz_tlq-iME.gif?format=mp4&s=5d82b9081e50c81e75a037f60fb6700e0eb4bd3e Current temperatures. Air Temp -0.1deg/C Ground Temp -0.2deg/C Cloud Temp - -0.4deg/C...teetering on the edge of sleet/snow.
