  1. Incredible that your only a few miles away....and there is nothing here, bone dry. Enjoy...
  2. As an experiment I pointed my thermometer at the cloud base 14.8deg/C so there is plenty heat up there to spark off a few bolts of lightning. When I was outside it was sounding quite rumbly around the Glenrothes / Kirkcaldy area...and looking quite dark.
  3. This radar picture is showing intense rain over in Edinburgh, as it passes over to this side it just needs to come a wee bit more to the west then bullseye...I can hear distant rumblings.
  4. How weird...for the past few minutes almost constant distant rumblings from north of Kinross direction and very short only a few seconds of intense rain.
  5. I had a nice spot picked out to watch the impending light show forecast for today but as ever its a anti-climax, apart from a rumble or two and a shoosh of rain early on its been quiet. The BBC must get its weather forecasts from the SNP fantasy land sources...well that says it all. The radar isn't showing anything heading this direction either...bugger.
  6. For some years now I’ve had a theory that the seasons can be off by a few months, over the past few weeks we have basically had winter weather patterns, north and easterly winds, large areas of high pressure feeding air from the continent if this were back in January and February we would have been in the deep freeze with plenty snow...what we got back then was Autumn weather patterns very mild and wet.
  7. Another nice sunny day this is more like it...cold start though. I saw this on the charts for next weekend...if it comes off that'll be a bitter wind.
  8. I've put the snaw shovel back in the shed after the anti-climax of the other week, now I see the daft thread is on about possible easterly set-up well it better hurry up and it'll have to be a bitter wind for any snaw to stick around at this time of year...again all too late in the season. We are rapidly heading towards April and that's the start of summer for me so all this pishy cauld wetness can bugger off...its time for some warmth noo.
  9. Woke up to wet snow falling this morning...today has been the worst kind of weather low temperatures and damp its felt really cold all day. It looks like we might get some drier weather this week hopefully some sunshine too which will make a nice change from all the recent grey.
  10. The temperature got down to -1.9deg/C last night which gave us a nice crisp frosty morning...a noticeably colder feel to the day. Around 21:30 a wee bit of snow blew through it only lasted a few minutes unfortunately, I see some are having better luck with the white stuff than around here. I miss the winters when you opened the curtains in the morning to find it had snowed during the night .
  11. Loving the pictures...good to see some are enjoying the snaw. A bit of a nothing day...it was actually quite pleasent in the afternoon the first time in a while a jacket wasn't needed for outside. Colder tonight than of late I had a peek outside and the car's an ice cube...current temp -1.4deg/C. I was watching the Saturday summary over on Weatherbell in the US they were hinting a pattern change could come in the first week or two in March when the Jetstream finally calms down a bit...I hope this comes off it'll be great to be rid off this reletless westerly wind. Lots of cold air bottled up in the PV when this lot breaks up could this give us a cold start to the spring - https://www.wxcharts.com/?panel=large&model=ecmwf,ecmwf,ecmwf,ecmwf&region=polar&chart=850temp,850temp,2mtemp,850temp&run=12&step=204&plottype=10&lat=51.500&lon=-0.250&skewtstep=0
  12. Aye its all my fault...sorry everyone for the huge let down of the snaw event.. Looks like the Met Office was correct...unfortunately. Around midday the ground temperature was 3.4deg/C zero chance of snaw lying on that for any length of time. Before I left for work this morning I set up my action camera to capture any snowfall...this is as good as it got.
  13. A few days ago the Met Office said in one of thier forecasts that the snow event all hung on the position of the low pressurse, if it were more to the south then the snow would be widespread as it would suck in cold air however the more favoured forecast placed the low further north allowing some milder air into the mix. Looking at Mondays forecast it does indeed show snow but it starts off as rain here before turning to snow...just have to wait and see I suppose. I took the snaw shovel out the shed on Sunday afternoon this is usually scuppers any snaw falling...I take full responsibilty if it all we get is sleety pish..!!!
  14. I wasn't expecting it to be frosty last night this morning my car had a thick ice crust, during the day the temp found its way up to 9 deg/C its not far of that now. 10 day outlook from the Met Office - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3rkm3vAn2Ng
  15. Nothing of note today a bit of sun and a bit of rain it looks like this coming week will be cool and wet, single digit temps but nothing close to cold...Boring..!!! Current temp 1.9 deg/C and a bit of rain blowing through.
  16. Great pictures folks...Scotland looks amazing covered in snow. A copy and paste weekend from last week...i.e.wind and pish, Temp showing 7 deg/C at the moment and raining. A glimmer of hope...the ECMWF and GFS are showing what looks like a colder spell for a few days its hard to say as the systems are flying across the Atlantic so fast they may well get blown to pieces...not that the models have been anywhere near accurate that far out.
  17. The Met Office got it bang on...rain, rain and more rain, not a flake to be seen. Nothing around showing any sign of cold...I've a feeling we're going to see a March/April cold spell which is a waste as the sun has too much strength for lying snow. I want a nice warm April I've had enough of this relentless wet pish...another extended Autumn instead of Winter for 2019 - 2020.
  18. The Met Office is disappointingly showing rain for us tomorrow. As forecast its quite cold current temperatures. Ground - 4.2 deg/C Air - 2.2 deg/C
  19. We normally have a good view of the Pentland Hills from work but could hardly see them all day so they must have been getting leathered with snaw, it cleared up just before finishing time and they looked amazing and very white. I must try and take a camera with me to get a long range shot.
  20. Great pictures from the last couple of days and good to see most have had some snaw...some have had a lot (not jealous much) Around the Fife area it would seem yet again we have the winds against us the heaviest of the showers haven't penetrated this far east the hils to the west have mopped up the snaw, but we have had a bit of a dusting so not all bad, as has already been said the temps are teetering around either side of the snaw lying or not its bloody frustrating seeing what little we have melting away. AM PM Yesterday I installed an outside thermometer when I say installed the probe is wrapped around the outside tap but its working OK and currently reading 0.9 deg/C...if I run the tap will that make it a wet bulb for more accurate readings..???
  21. Well that was an anticlimax if ever there was one, only one of my bins got toppled over...the Beeb blew it again (pardon the pun) I'am done with them. Since they ditched the Met Office is their new source of forecasts coming from James Madden at Exacta Weather..??? The radar is showing a lot of showers packing in from the west but few seem to be penetrating east at the moment, the Met Office is showing snow for this area from around 05:00 then throught Monday into Tuesday...lets hope there's lots of snow for everyone.
  22. I was out and about around 0830 while it was still raining a bit the wind had died down, now the wind has greatly increased and getting quite gusty, Beeb weather on-line said the central belt could see gusts touching 85mph late in the afternoon/evening...Christ that's blowy..!!!
  23. A short while ago very intense rain with ice mixed in sounded great tinkling on the windows now its all calmed down a bit. I'am not yet 100% convinced we will see much lying snow here on the east coast next week the winds are from the wrong direction for starters the hills in the west usually mop up everything and is it going to be cold enough...fingers crossed I'am completely wrong. This is sitting patiently in the shed wondering if it'll get out to play in the snow this winter...its been there a while.
  24. From the joys of the other day's snow we're back to the mild soaking wet shitey pish again, at 16:00hrs it was lashing with rain on my way home...that was the heaviest rain I've seen for a while the roads were awash with some big dub's for the car to splash through. I poked my nose in the mad thread...I hope someone is keeping the sharp implements away from them..!!! The Metoffice 10 day tend suggests there may be a bit of a cold coming our way but they are not too sure - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LAQdAzZBLPQ&t=0s - strange they are showing runs from the ECMWF and GSF but not their own model runs If this were to come off would this not dump a whole load of snow. .
  25. I'am glad to see some at least had a covering of snow and for those who didn't I hope you enjoyed the pictures that were posted...I certailnly did. It was a treat to drive to work today seeing everything covered in a white blanket of snow its a shame it didn't last most of it was gone by the time I got home...never even got to use my snaw shovel.
