  1. Light snow falling here...two days on the trot..!!! The radar is looking favourable...that big red blob is most welcome the green sleety pish can bugger off.
  2. What an interesting weather day...a bloody cold day, from an overnight low of -2.5deg/C it felt like it hovered around freezing point till late afternoon when the temps dropped like a stone, I measured the ground temperature about an hour after the sun went down it was -6.8deg/C the air temp bottomed out at -3.1 deg/C and has been slowly rising to -1.3deg/C now...no cloud to take a reading from today. I've been watching the snow front advance all evening....the line of traffic cams down from Perth to Gleneagles to Dumblane are the ones to watch the Dunblane cam's are now showing snow the others not yet. As ever great pictures today...I passed by Loch Leven this afternoon and it looked stunning (note to self keep a camera in the motor)
  3. I've been keeping an eye on the various weather forecasts for the next few days, my conclusion is they couldn't tell what the weather's doing if they looked outside. What an absolute crock of dung...so I'll give you my weather forecast. It will be mild and wet...or cold and dry...or cold and wet...or cold and snowy, if you prepare for any one of these you'll be fine. I see the straws are being well and truly clutched on the mad thread again.
  4. Just back from the shops...Aldi's car park is like a skating rink as Joe said above really dangerous the main roads are patchy black ice, instead of shiny wet roads the tell tale is they look matt with no water noise from the tyres...if your going out be very careful as the ungritted side roads are lethal. As I got in my motor there was a sleety shower it was thick enough for the wipers to make some slush so it slowly getting there towards snow...fingers crossed. Current temperature is +1.6deg/C but the ground temperature is a black ice making -4.6deg/C.
  5. Just had a heavy rain shower, current temperature showing +2.4deg/C, ground temperature showing +1.2deg/C. I pointed my infra-red thermometer at the darkest looking cloud overhead +0.8deg/C...no snow is going to fall if the cloud layer is that warm cold rain yes but nae snaw. Something else that's nipping ma heed...radar images, our good old Metoffice has what looks like 8bit images from a Sinclair Spectrum (I wonder if thats what they use for model calculations too) with no snow fall shown either, Netweather and Accuweather have very nice radar images with a good selection of options to choose from...why are we being short changed from our own weather service.
  6. What a nice surprise this morning a covering of snow...all white again. A low of -3.7deg/C so no where near as cold as some have seen...I'll take this cold frosty weather over mild rain and pish any day.
  7. Happy New Year everyone...it looks like the 1st of January will be a nice crisp sunny day. There's just a wee bit of snow left in the shade from the sun...it was fun while it lasted. Did I see somewhere that an easterly is inbound..???
  8. No snow only rain here...the temperature is +1.4deg/C so its cold rain. You couldn't write it...a north east wind mid winter and instead of piles of snaw we get pishy rain.
  9. There is a light snaw snow shower passing by here with very fine flakes...but snaw none the less..!!! During the night the temperature dropped to a chilly -4.1deg/C...the temperature is sitting at 0.8deg/C anything that accumulates isn't going to melt. The radar is showing more on the way...
  10. Fab pictures everyone...its good to see how much joy a bit of the white stuff brings. The temperature has been all over the place this evening...after a quick freeze it then started to thaw a bit and topped out at +2.3deg/C dropped back to +0.8deg/C and is now fluctuating up and down, there is a bit of cloud cover which is causing this but I'd never have thought it could change so rapidly. The Beeb weather is showing a low of -4deg/C for around here it'll be interesting to see how low it gets.
  11. This has hit Fife bang on...lovely..!!! And a lamp post pic...
  12. Sad to say I've not had time to follow this thread for a while I look forward to looking back at all the pictures. I just had a look at the radar and it looks like a few showers are heading this direction from the east of all places...and had a look outside and its snawing..!!!!
  13. What’s everyone’s thoughts...will we get snow next week or will the Azores high pressure intensify and kill off anything cold. I’ve a feeling the latter will win out, the last few winters have seen the Azores high pressure establish itself for what seemed like all winter with the jet to the north and the UK stuck in mild wet and windy pish...I hope I’am wrong as the last thing I want to endure is four months of an extended Autumnal weather pattern.
  14. I just had a look on the mad thread...I've heard they've booked Space X to launch all the toy's oot the pram's...a mass ejection event will take place if this doesn't come off.
  15. Brrrr...its cold out, a nice ice crust has formed on the car this late afternoon, that's the first frost I've seen this early.
  16. The daft thread seems to be suicidal as per every other year...chasing cold on a chart two weeks away and then launching their toys oot the pram when it all turns to dung. I love the comedy show on that thread in the winter...!!!
  17. What's everyones thoughts for this winter...cold with piles of snaw or damp wet mild pish.
  18. I got into the car this morning and noticed my dashcam was still on it captured the whole event from 22:00 hrs last night...its going to be good watching that lot. A nice spark...
  19. Looking at the radar the pattern has changed its moving almost directly for here now...I'am going to try and capture some video. As I type this its getting more intense outside.
  20. The cloud is fast moving it now looks like its running from east to west, possibly to do with the convection of the thunder clouds, all of the action seems to be to the west from here there is a good 10sec gap from flash to bang well more of a rumble really no explosive loud bangs yet. This is amazing its just about as good as a foot of snaw...
  21. Finally some action...beautiful light show in the clouds no visible lightning yet it seems to be all around though. I've never seen so much flashes.
  22. Its like a streamer forming and running north straight across the Forth. The east/west the cut off line seems to be the edge of Lochgelly its as if there is a force field keeping it from coming too far inland.
  23. Its still dry with just distant rumbles. Now that its gone dark fingers crossed for a good light show.
