  1. seems that the essex estuary coast is strugging a bit, one weather station about 2 miles inland is recording 25.3c, only slowly creeping up. and 25.6c at Shoeburyness still its very plesant completly blue skys no contrails, and a little breeze dosnt feel humid, however I think that will change

You must just be round the corner from me.

There is a great sea breeze here, crystal clear blue skies, low humidity, what a perfect summers day.

Why cant every summer day be like this.

  2. Met Office update issued this morning. July could turn out to be a lovely month for our Region:

Forecast Issued on Monday, 29 June 2015 at 08:33

Forecast for Mon 29 Jun 2015 to Fri 03 Jul 2015

General Situation: Largely dry on Monday and Tuesday with long sunny spells. A period of hot weather is

expected from later on Tuesday, through Wednesday and into Thursday for parts of England. Thundery rain or

showers are expected in places on Wednesday and Thursday. Turning a little fresher in the west on Thursday

for a time, but very warm again by Friday with the risk of further thundery showers.

Forecast for Sat 04 Jul 2015 to Mon 13 Jul 2015

General Situation: Very warm at first on Saturday with risk of thundery showers or heavy rain. Turning fresh later

Saturday and for Sunday. Temperatures will probably be above average for much of the UK through this period,

with the highest chance of very warm or hot weather in the far southeast for a time around midweek.

Forecast for Tue 14 Jul 2015 to Tue 28 Jul 2015

General Situation: There is no clear signal for settled hot weather, but there is the likelihood of above average

temperatures at times especially in the south or southeast. The northeast and northwest regions are more likely

to see periods of rain with temperatures nearer to average.

Bet you wont have the heating on for a while now, lol...

  3. Funnily enough Gravesend, is currently warmest spot in the country registering at 26C do you know why this is, is it due to the topography of the area...it isn't exactly a metropolis :D

Its because it has a higher sand base than other areas, therefore higher temps are normally reached there.

High of 19.7 so far today, if it stays cooler here while London is in the 30's I'll be more than happy.

You will always be cooler than London in this weather, right on the coast in Dover, plus possible sea breezes and no concrete effect.

  4. Interestingly the latest met office update says it will turn very warm and humid again next week away from the northwest of the BI after a cooler and fresher day on Sunday with an increasing chance of thundery showers in the south by next midweek which sounds to me like plume type weather returning, at least to the south, similar looking even further ahead too.

It doesn't sound to me like we will be seeing a return to the normal / sometimes unseasonably cool pattern which dominated most of June..ie LP to the northwest and HP to the southwest which is what the EC32 showed, the MO further outlook is for a continuation of summery weather apart from the occasional cooler blip..e.g. this coming Sunday.

I dont always agree with you, however this time I do, lol..

The MO must be very confident from their model views.

There is a very clear signal for the south to be much warmer than average for some time, with nearing hot spells and possible thunder.

I am not sure a plume is exactly the type of weather expected, however they seem to be reading the overall situation differently to some on here.

Its the time for Ian to give us those little hot bits of info.

  5. Sorry to be a know all.

However yet again the MO had there own models to use as experience.

Just like the winter, I think they have called it right and not based on all the excitement and depression on here.

It will be hot for a few days and it will get colder and reading between the lines there should be another reload.

However for some reason the highs just cant build in the right place for long enough, looks like a carry on from winter.

The models do show some far to hot weather for most with hopefully some cracking thunderstorms.

  6. Great start to the day. High wispy cirrus and temperature up to 16C at 08.00. I might even join seaside 60 and throw the windows and doors open this morning! (And no heating this morning!).   :D

The only caveat to an otherwise lovely day ahead is the decaying cold front coming down from the NW. This is arriving slightly earlier than forecasts a day or so back, so it may cloud over in the north of our patch by mid/late afternoon. Then a few outbreaks of light patchy rain moving down, but nowhere near enough for the empty water butts.

The cloud satellite at 07.50 this morning shows the cloud heading our direction. But our Region sticking out nicely at the mo! :good:

Good man, and I didnt even have to persuade you.

Much muggier today and my eyes giving me hell, with itchyness, the worse day of the year so far.

    Roll on sea breezes.

  7. It seems to me that this semi permanent Azores high that the models are keeping faith with, that is always to far south west.

Totally ruined the winter and now will ruin the people that like the hot and sultry summer weather, because every week two that shows this is another week towards autumn.

Let face it the countdown to autumn begins  from this weekend, lol...longest day and all that.

NO I am not saying summer is over, lol...

  8. That was one chilly night! Overnight minimum down to 6C here. I hate having to do it at this time of year, but I flicked the central heating on for an hour at 6.30 this morning to take the chill off the house.

Looking good for later today - some warmth and sunshine on the way. Tomorrow's temps of 23/24C should be wonderful, although it looks like a good westerly breeze will accompany the warmth, so maybe feeling like being under the hair dryer. :)

Sounds like you are in another country not county.

By 7.30, windows and doors open and outside just in shorts.

  9. Thanks for the couple of good replies.

Decent summers are often later as Mushy mentions.
My problem is that several members give summaries of week 2 weather from the models and do a very good job.

However the models seem to be again pretty poor, as mentioned reading the  reviews I have been expecting several hot spells that were never going to happen.

So of course mr average reads these and then gets the "waste of time reading these" cause they often are so far from the truth.

Its very difficult to get a hold on the weather by reading in here sometimes, it seems more in the summer nowadays.

Personally I dont want high humid temps, 20/23c and cool nights is perfect with one mega hot day with thunderstorms.

    Sorry I digress.

  10. After many weeks of speculation I am still waiting for the so called long ish settled hot spell.
Much like the winter, it just aint going to happen early this summer.

Recent years patterns seem to be later more settled summer conditions, its a carry on from this winter for sure of hope casting..

Many straw clutches going on with models trying to read weather patterns it just cant hold on to.
