I used to have a Lexus LS400 25 years ago with winter tyres on and that got through deep snow and it was rear wheel drive. A lot boils down to driver ability too, My wife drives a 2022 Suzuki Vitara Hybrid 4X4 . And I drive a 2022 Subaru Outback Wilderness both cars are outstanding. Staying at home obviously helps but not everyone can. Take care beanz, I'm personally looking forward to the next cold spell.

Model Output Discussion - Into Winter

I have never ever seen a 1064mb modeled on the charts ever , that has the potential to affect the UK. I'm sure I'd remember something as monumental as that. Long way off obviously. I posted 11 hours ago about a merge with high pressures, but this is something else. -

My Great Grandad was a sheep farmer in the Swaledale area the Dale's Pennine area. He used to say if the snow and ice sticks ,there's more snow and cold to come. I wonder how much of that has buoyancy these days, and he never had weather charts then. If you showed him weather charts of today. He'd probably think it was some form of Witch craft Or why do you need all that rubbish -

When you get a 1056mb Siberian High , and a 1045mb Scandinavian High trying to merge isn't that the time to abruptly sit up and watch. Interesting times ahead. -

Just an observation but I found charts more reliable 19 years ago than nowadays, I don't know if there's any substance to this. Or there's just to much data and technology these days. I won't proclaim to knowing this accurately, it's just my take. -
Snow showers possible around 8pm tonight, just had a notification on my phone I'll try to screenshot it. The wolds West of Rudston may see a few showers feeding in. Octon area Sledmere the usual spots. Bridlington into the early hours may see along with Scarborough a dusting by morning IF under any lengthy clear spells shower clouds move into the colder air. If that makes sense. Showers seem to be feeding in around 9:45pm rather than 8pm as suggested feeding in most of the night next update 11:30pm from me.

Thursday night into Friday is looking good for snow showers. I don't know if you've seen the Monday 18z but it's looking pretty good for a lengthy cold spell. They'll be regular updates from the met Office in due course I should imagine. Octon to Sledmere usually cops for snow showers. As does Staxton Hill and Garrowby Hill. Bridlington is generally sleet. Travel 12 miles inland and it' can be a different world as you know.

Model Output Discussion - mid Autumn

Something to bear in mind , Rush hour commute could get tricky for parts of the South, South East & the Midlands on Thursday evening into Friday morning. I'm analysing data now. I mainly focus and Forecast for my region, Great potential for the South enjoy. Great data and charts too. -
Here in North Yorkshire very slow I think it's my Internet connection rather than the forum. The forum is busy. My house isn't getting warm either for good measure. I don't have central heating either, just 2 log burners and a back up propane bottle gas fire. I managed in the 2010 winter .

Met Office and BBC Weekly/Monthly Outlooks
sorepaw1 replied to Blessed Weather's topic in Spring Weather Discussion
Me and my family always find the BBC Weather forecast misleading in our neck of the woods. They over estimated the daytime temperatures. And mention the word MILD to often. It's not mild here today It's not got above 3.oC all day. The BBC had my next of the woods down as 7.oC. This is misleading and potentially dangerous in some Weather circumstances. -

Indeed, it'll probably get colder than that in more sheltered areas and elevation. -

Through the middle part of next week, chances of snow increases. but if it doesn't snow , there is the potential for quite heavy rain in some flood affected areas. I would favour a snowy outlook. But equally heavy rain in some parts is an equal contender and flooding could be an issue. Here's hoping for snow for many.
