  1. UKMO is currently forecasting 29 degrees here for Wed Bring the storms!
  2. Charts are still looking promising from Wed onwards. LP West of Ireland, HP over the North Sea, both pulling hot and humid up from the continent. Add in LP fronts swinging in from the Atlantic, and a trough now showing on the UKMO Fax for Wed, we're looking (IMO) at some fireworks moving NNE Wed afternoon onwards.......
  3. It's a corker, isn't it? Combine that with a jetstream moving South to North at the same time (which is what the forecast is), then we're looking at some wind shear added in to the equation!
  4. Looking at the UKMO Fax chart at T+120, it does look promising to my very inexperienced eye. HPs over Scandinavia and Iberia, with LP systems mid-Atlantic both moving NE should mean a definite continental plume of heat. That LP system over the Azores showing on the T+120 chart should move NE bringing frontal action into the heat and humidity from the SW heading NE. What we don't want, I suppose, is a leading warm front from the LP like we had two weeks ago, which just created clag and suppressed convection.
  5. I do find it very frustrating when <mattmunroe>on days like these</mattmunroe> we have sunshine, humidity, followed by unstable looking skies that produce nothing. Honestly? I'm aching for a good thunderstorm.
  6. That's a love ballad for their sisters, no? I prefer the original.
  7. I feel your pain, Eugene. It's been utter shyte today. Got back to the office in Wolves about 12:30 and it was hazy and humid; ideal for storms one would think. Then by 13:30 a load of flat, grey clag came over and stagnated. Since then, it's as if the weather is saying, 'I can't be fvcking bothered to do anything except be slightly damp, slightly humid, and very miserable indeed'. Been two years now since I've seen even a half decent thunderstorm.
  8. I've got a site visit tomorrow, so I'm hoping to see some action. Telford to Towcester, getting to Towcester for about 08:30. Probably leaving about 11:00, then will go A43 to pick up the M40 near Oxford. Then back to the office at Wolves. Fingers. Crossed.
  9. There's a great line-up aircraft on the programme for Cosford Airshow this coming Sunday
  10. What an odd day. Here we are, nearly halfway through June, with a massive area of HP smack-bang over the UK, and it was cloudy, breezy and bloody chilly! It will be worth going to Cosford Airshow on Sunday, though. As RAF Waddington doesn't have a show this year, Cosford is getting some proper military hardware doing displays!
  11. Now, as you say, that does look very interesting indeed! A developing cold front moving North, with a trough on a SW wind? Yeah, I'll have some of that.......
  12. Like last week, I'm looking at various charts closely and lurking in 'ere often for updates on the probability of storms. The FAX chart for Friday suggests that it'll be a warm / occluded front coming up from the South, hitting already warm air. This suggests to my very inexperienced eye that storm activity would be limited (i.e. I'd be expecting some action if it was a cold front, maybe accompanied by a trough). Maybe some more astute observers could clarify the forecasted action for Thu / Fri? TIA
  13. I'm, inclined to agree. Here, it's very much like a spring evening : clear and chilly. And Sat24 shows nothing but storms fizzling out over Biscay.
  14. A totally clear sky here, and a chill in the air. I'm wearing a bloody fleece typing this! About as un-stormy as it gets.....
  15. The wind has really started picking up in the last half hour. A couple of garden chairs out back, for example......
  16. Oof! Good job our San Marzano tomato plants are sheltered!
  17. The UKMO charts look very exciting for tomorrow p.m. (I love stormy stuff)
  18. You know the old saying, 'washing the car to make it rain doesn't work'? After all the forecasts today stating rain in the afternoon, I got back from the office at half six earlier to a bone dry garden. So. Watered all the pots. From absolutely nowhere, it's now raining. Laugh M F I ass Off
  19. Shag all sunshine here. At least it was dry for the food festival at Weston Park. Managed to get some more Malaysian curry mixes (they are exceptionally good), a spectacular spicy carrot chutney, and enjoyed maybe the best burger from a van ever.
  20. Well. I was hoping to experience some decent exciting weather today. Living in Telford, working in the West Mids, and had an early site visit in Northamptonshire. One half decent heavy shower, no hail or thunder, for about 10 minutes in Wolves, I am disappoint.
  21. Nothing here in Telford, yet. Radar suggests something interesting in about 30 minutes........
