  1. Funny that we did not see here in North Wales a single thunderstorm all Summer long, and it is exactly what we had a few hours ago. ?
  2. Picturesque but abysmal for "High Summer". 12-13C all day near Termeirchion.
  3. Not much happening, apart from the breeze... Loving it though.
  4. I think it will be "diluted" by the time. For this week, hards frosts were predicted last week: did not have any. I am certainly not looking forward to damaging frosts together with all the horticulture and landscape industry, and I am not even talking about my flowering fruit trees in the garden.
  5. Heavy rain mixed with lighter periods since 4pm. Much more rain than predicted by the Metoffice, over 10mm here. We are on the back edge now. To be honest, this rain is welcome, the top soil was dry.
  6. Not change whatsoever this morning. Disgusting stratus. Third day of lost sunshine...
  7. What lovely weather? We did not see the sun in 2 days now here in North Wales. because of the ridiculous low cloud. 10C. Really fed up with this high pressure position. It will reposition to the East fortunately for the weekend. I do not think the cold incrusions will be that severe.
  8. It is because the people going on about don't live in the South. We had 1 frosty morning on Sat corresponding to 1,3 days of sunshine until 11am on Sat, otherwise ugly low cloud and 3-5 C and the models forecast this for the coming days too. Very exciting indeed.
  9. Digusting low cloud with mist again in 3C. Cannot wait for some frontal systems from the Atlantic, at least it will be sunny between them. Also, 1-5 C is a "totally useless" temperature range. Uncomfortably cold yet too warm for anything wintry here. One benefit: my mediterranean plants don't suffer frost damage. This about sums up Winter 2016/17.
  10. Exactly. Moreover, full whiteout from prolonged/merged snow showers for last night was forecasted in BBC just 2 days ago to the NW.
  11. What cold? What snow? 2 hail showers last night, thaw this morning, nothing even on top of the A55. Clwydian Range tops (above 400m) are white but that is it, a storm in a tea cup (yes, we got the wind of course). Never believe to the Meto, just look at the gfs diagram, that is more accurate: nothing special was on it a week back until now and it was right. Come on Spring, no need for another 2 months of 0-5C and cloud with a sleet shower (sorry guys).
  12. Some would argue if the lack of storms is the "worst" type of mild crud, especially in previously flooded and coastal areas. It is boring tho but at least not too much rain..
  13. Then the sea..? Otherwise overcast skies were forecasted.
  14. Must be the cloud cover..if you have no cloud, it is really bizarre..
  15. Met Office forecast largely failed for North Wales. Almost no cloud (some cirrus) and -6 C in my garden, on 50cm. I can make a better weather forecast, cheaper :).
  16. I thought naming is based on the overall impact lows like this one have and not only on wind speed - it is a "funny" situation that cars swimming on the streets in floodwater, yet it is just a passing "low"...otherwise I agree.
  17. I find it unbelievable that this low was not named, thus people (especially drivers) would have taken it more seriously, if naming is based on the impact it has. It was a loong time ago that I have seen that much continuous rain in a day here, not mentioning the wind. Oh, it did not affect that much the SE, maybe this is why it was not named...Storm Angus affected a smaller part of the country. ...but I have (almost) never heard the METO admitting their faults.
  18. I hope you are right Frosty. I can see the high pressure, but with plenty of stubborn low cloud (as per usual) apart from the odd sunnier days which is worst than mild and low cloud, especially if you have to work outdoors....
  19. Still stubborn low cloud. BBC did not even mention it for here this morning. Does the BBC/METO ever apologise for wrong forecast? and I pay money for it...
  20. Fortunately the end of meteorological Summer is nothing to do with the warmth/heatwaves which can happen during Sept and even Oct, therefore in my opinion no point to bury potential warm and settled spells just yet. It won't be Winter on the 1st of Sept. Things can change whatever the models are showing right now.
  21. Gorgeous day on Tuesday with wall to wall sunshine, 50% sunshine yesterday, sunny this morning. I love this set up. (Picture taken Tuesday 1pm near Cilcain, Denbighshire)
