  1. 1.3 C and was clear 30 mins ago. Of course it had to be overcast yesterday all day to clear for the night to get the cold and exactly in time for the sunrise, it has to "frontal" cloud over from the North again to "conserve" the cold. You couldn't make it up... I'm hoping that the clouds will go early afternoon rather than late afternoon to get some sun at least today. Tomorrow, of course, will cloud over from the East.
  2. Yes, sun largely failed to break through. Grey skies all day here, disappointing indeed. I can see that the SE had a full day of sunshine (again).
  3. Exactly. Same on Friday when I could see the edge of the stratus to the south and it did not move more than 5 miles all day. The METO overestimates those "sunny spells" every day this week. Like this morning. Not everyone lives on the East coast or SE England. I bet it will be cloudy here all day again...
  4. You know what, I prefer better SW winds with rain bands rather than this "nice weather high pressure" which can only give fog after a few days here which lifts to form useless grey low cloud (and most frustratingly you can see the brightness and fractions of blue skies in the odd holes all the time) - not a minute of sunshine here today so far; at least between the rain bands, there is proper sunshine... Of course, if this is our biggest issue in life, that is fine and all is relative, but still..
  5. Totally failed forecast for yesterday, Sunday. Overcast from 7am onwards. The best recipe for depressed max temp, as it was clear exactly until the Sun rose...
  6. When there is finally no cloud, way was given to fog...Laughable. Edit 08.22: Sun breaks through now
  7. Well, cloudy was in the forecast for yesterday (cloud cover arriving from the SE), but we had full sunshine all day (15 miles further south, it was a different story though). Sunny spells in the forecast for today and we managed with 10 mins of sunshine late pm when the thin cloud cover finally broke.
  8. I believe you in Calgary (some of my relatives live exactly there , but for me it always did, in cold winters of Central Europe in the 1990's. This temp range however is not usual for the UK. When it's hovering around zero, sun is certainly not cold. But this is just my opinion anyway..
  9. I'm not convinced, since it feels warmer even in -20, if the sun is "hitting" your face The air may be cold, but not the rays of sunshine.
  10. What is "warm sunshine"? The BBC keep saying that in their forecast, but since when, sunshine can be "cold"? Otherwise, no sunshine here yesterday, warm or cold, despite promising forecasts.
  11. METO forecast for North Wales for today: sunny. Reality: cloudy, with a shower around 10am. Very little sunshine before 6pm.
  12. I do not like to bury the Summer before mid-August, often the best Summer weather starts in September which even outweighs the shorter days. It is early October, when I get into sentimental mood.
  13. Just watched BBC world forecast: 50 C is the forecasted max temp for tomorrow for Baghdad - Insane. I think the little unsettled here will do for me although warmer unsettled is always better...
