Simple Answer seems to be you cant predict them - you just have to put the effort in and hope for the best
Some times they are viewable in Norfolk and not in Scotland other times in South Wales and not in Norfolk - They just appear and then wane
Good luck in your ventures out

How on earth has Stoke on Trent avoided these storms today - Madness seems to be something going on with the Penines killing them as someone else has said further up

The great thing about Southend chasing is that Southend is always there and always in the same place.
Storms on the other hand...
It takes a Speshal type of storm to break the COS Not seen for a good 36 months

I am currently just northwest of Stoke. Maybe I should hang about for bit. Or would you advise heading South?
Would go south a bit and play both options but dont know what the chase terrain is like up there

So muggy here right now, 22C, DP 16C Humidity almost 80% urgh..... need a good storm to clear the air
You are in a fantastic position. Watch the moisture pool of where these storms have fired, always the same spot either SW, West or North West of Wolverhampton. That will continue to happen as the southerlies but into the easterlies and lift north. It will eventually join up and make a line with the stuff off to your east over Leicester way.
Would love to be in Stoke right now not a quote often heard I would imagine lol

You’re wasting your time if you’re looking for thunder or lightning.
More than welcome to stare at some distant clouds if that’s your thing
Lol and he is wasting his time if he is looking towards Southend as well. Its drier than Death Valley in these thar parts

Zip all chance to almost zero of anything happening down here Xander today and probably tomorrow bar a few light showers tomorrow.
If you wanna see where the storms are firing then look at the link I just posted - You can clearly see the line of converging winds from the south and east over the midlands and this is where the deeper convection is taking place. Hover over the blue arrows and you can see in the SE we have 10-11c dewpoints and in the NW Midlands they have 14-15c and its easy to see where the moisture is

Both of them options available to me and it looks like the Nottingham to Preston one may offer me slightly greater rewards, so I may head for that one
Thats the one I would favour for better chance at FC and Weak CZ Tornadoes today - Good luck

To chase or not to chase.
I'm in Bournemouth so it's a bit of distance to get to the potential action.
If you were me where would you be heading???
Nottingham To Preston for 18z to 23z might be a tad far
But certainly west of Birmingham and up towards Cheshire should be good for the 15-21z timeframe
You might need to leave pretty sharpish

That's the clearest example of the Cone of Silence and the Triangle of Doom, I've seen for ages!
The Models even factor it into the Suite when they start running now. Amazingly dung areas to live if you like Severe Weather but guess thats why we are the driest as well year on year.
Looking ahead to the week coming up and plenty of action all the way through to next weekend.
IMBY Forecast and Including the TOD Does not look great for much during the daytime as showers seem to form on lines of convergence and move North or North West most of the week so its the Midlands, Wales, NW England and Western Side of Uk that looks set to see torrential downpours. Coastal Areas look quite dry actually which includes Yorks/Liincs/Norflok/Suffolk/Essex/Kent/Sussex/Hants etc
I glimmer of hope to get excited about could be Wednesday Night into Thursday Morning when an overnight MCS could be moving from East to West from Benelux. Expect masses of Lightning around Bruge / Calais with this and a wet mess as it approaches the Uk
Enjoy in all the favoured areas

Seems @Paul Sherman has sent his cone of silence to this area.
If you want to see the cone of silence at full work today just run the radar loop back at that Canterbury Storm around 1845 to 1930 and then laugh

Yep absolute carbon copy of today coming up tomorrow and rough for areas of the South and South East.
Storms may fire a little closer to London along the Chilterns as the southern extent but this all moving and maturing to the NW again. Dry for the TOD and COS and also Kent and Eastern Suffolk and Lincs. Severest storms once again West Wales, and North West England and parts of Ireland.
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
