  1. Couple of close strikes here around 5.30am. Wasn't properly awake but checked Blitzortung and it was true
  2. Mist and cloud tops on my early morning walk today. Very grateful seeing the horrendous amount of rainfall elsewhere
  3. Awful down in the South Hams. Heavy driving rain for well over an hour. Not looking forward to driving to Torbay later
  4. Astounding developments the past couple of hours, absolutely no change here in Kingsbridge from the drizzle and murk all day, yet there was lightning just offshore to the east! Will note this was at least forecast as a possibility, so not completely random
  5. Think it's best to wait and see today! The storm we had overnight in South Devon and Torbay was quite unusual IMO, it kept having pulses of lightning, then quietening off, before renewing again. Very squally winds for a short period too. It was only later on that the power went off briefly after what must have been a direct strike somewhere nearby. Certainly had plenty of rain since midnight as well🌧🌧
  6. Yeah the lightning seems to die off and then come back to life again. Onto round 4 now, can't say it's ever been all that close, apart from the direct hit nearby which knocked the power out briefly.
  7. Wow, what a crazy storm. Has died off and come back to life a few times. Power went off for a few seconds after one big bolt, now its absolutely pelting down. Very squally winds as well.
  8. Woken up by lightning and a few rumbles, not overhead but sounds gusty out there!
  9. Good luck to everyone today! Decent overnight storm here in Kingsbridge, torrential rain and fair bit of lightning around 2.30am. Plus the earlier storm that was further out to sea. Well worth the wait
  10. Few decent flashes now looking south and east out towards Start Point and Torbay, looks to be getting second wind. A few distant rumbles of thunder. It's great compared to the absolute non-existent storm fest we've had for ages!
  11. We are high up nr Kingsbridge, already distant light show visible and inbound! Seen two distant bolts of lightning already, stunning orange colour to it.
  12. View to the SE, very dark skies over Torbay and Channel. Certainly developed a nice line.
  13. Cat 4 140mph at last NHC update. Was forecast but not sure that much so soon! Still forecast to drop back to TS strength by landfall, but as above rainfall looks to be huge.
  14. Funny day down in Kingsbridge. Wind has picked up briefly over past hour or so, some strong gusts looking out the window. Prob just about justifying the yellow warning tbf. I do get some of the risk element will be in consideration of tourists and holiday traffic.
  15. Yep we had two fairly close by in Kingsbridge an hour ago. Second one knocked the power out briefly. From what I understand, the worst potential winds aren't due till later? Windy enough this morning!
  16. Toasty in Plymouth today, a balmy 11 degrees. Wet and breezy though! A case of if only for south and west Devon and Cornwall. Fascinating to see the contrast in temperature further north and east where the cold air dug in.
  17. Snow in Kingsbridge this morning. OK, no need for shovels, but we'll take it as a win! More or less melted now.
  18. Well we got some snow overnight in Kingsbridge, only a dusting but to he honest I didn't expect anything! Maybe just enough for the kids to chuck some mini snowballs
  19. Light rain in Kingsbridge, feels bitterly cold out in the wind though. Can't be too far from it turning to snow surely?!
  20. Really convective skies on the horizon looking east from Kingsbridge. Wondering exactly how far away those tops are?! Radar would seem to suggest Weymouth way? Incredible if so!
  21. Just come over really dark in Kingsbridge, heavy rain then wind picked up again with hail. Some lightning offshore as well, nothing here as yet. One of those days I feel!
  22. A very windy night down here in Kingsbridge, we are in an exposed location so it really was quite nasty around 9-10pm. Power flickered a few times but stayed on. Then very windy throughout the night. Two of our neighbours have lost their fences, ours fell down during Storm Eunice. Easily the windiest event since. Good job the timing was later, if this had hit during the daytime it would likely have caused a fair bit of disruption.
