All depends on the snow layer, to be honest I would say that it will remain snow where you are. A lot of discussion yesterday morning on the forum for this I think on page 3 at the start if you want to understand about the snow layer, and explaining about ice rain and why that happens even though its 0c etc... I do not see this as being an issue for you.

Its certainly interesting. Dew temps over north sea by thanet are still -7C which is not positive although that has changed from -9c at 8am! so its moving in correct direction.

Yep the presenter (and that is what they are only), has forgotten about current conditions and for the reputation they like to focus on getting it right for the snow, but notice how different presenters say different things, and the ones with the big kahuna's take a punt and the weak ones would rather not take a risk so they pretend nothing is going on. Bring back the 70's, 80's and 90's forecasters when at least they blooming knew what they were talking about.

Encouraging things just fell out the sky in Whitstable, very brief and short lived but small grain snow in the wind, that's the first in 72 hours to fall here, so positive of things to come.

Right off on the school run, then down to the butcher and then a nice day of feet up, cup of tea, and plotting the weather all day.... what a life....!

Yep, I think we will be the front line today for anything that might slip down the north sea, some nice activity in the low countries now. Its been a nice cold spell, refreshing, and I agree I think we are in for at least another 7 days of it.

Wise words... someone asked me this morning when is the heavy snow coming... my answer was simple "things are far too difficult to be exact at present, and too many things have happened this week to be accurate. It could be Saturday night late etc..." - I tell you people just do not realize that we are dealing with a heap of information that all has to come in line for it to happen, you just can't please some people.

Well those dew points don't want to improve do they, they are still hanging way down in the -7 to -9C range in the north sea, although a few inland have risen a bit, things do seem far more interesting today though compared to the past 48 hours where it was a lot of possibles followed by blooming nothing happening of interest. The sky is cloudy off the north sea, and the clouds are lovely, but whether they deliver any gifts is questionable. Wind has dropped that's a bonus, no frost at all, but the sea on the edge has frozen about 20" in from the edge so that's nice to see, as it takes good cold air to freeze salt water.

Exactly, cant second guess it... it could be nothing or lots of snow, there are so many options, not 2 or 3, I could come up with 20 possibles now for the next 48 hours but I would rather just enjoy seeing what actually happens.

At present the charts have kept on getting this wrong, but things are changing gradually, so I would say we should start to see many increasing from -9c up towards more -3c over night.

I would say on a hunch from the charts that some snow could fall between 3am and 9am tomorrow along the Kent coast from Medway to Thanet and inland... its just going from my readings and expected changes. This could change in an hour but as I sit here now I would say that is most likely.

The dew points at present just off the coast are still a little to low, its drying up any major activity, it is improving in locations closer to land but a lot of the current activity in Europe just does not make it over the north sea due to the -9c dew points etc... once these start coming rising then we will see penetration far easier. If you look at what comes off the coast of Holland it just fizzles out mid-north sea as the dew points eat it up! These are starting to improve but they have a lot more to do for the action to start. I have just been checking some Germany dew points they are -20c etc... very low.

He is referring to the snow layer... so its more ice rain, if you go back on this forum from earlier today you will see some discussions on it, (about page 3 to 7) somewhere back that way... hope that helps. Not a lot of changes really, just starting to see some minor flurries running north east direction and hugging Anglia, nothing significant but a noticeable change is occurring compared to 24 hours ago. That should bring you up to speed.

Its difficult with the past days to be sure of anything exactly, but I agree that a dusting looks possible for some in Kent and also could be a nice dump on Sat night, but frankly its day by day and hour by hour forecasting at present, the conditions are really throwing some fantastic curve balls at present...

I know now you done it.... keep your mouth shut next time.... how we going to get any bad weather if they put us in the warning zone...

Its best to stay focused on the various sites and information, I would really take the weather on TV etc... with a pinch of salt at this moment, its out of date often before its broadcast and furthermore, the majority of information they are using is available to you all via this site and others. This is the fun time of year if you like cool weather events and time to test your skills a little, just use the TV to assist you, its often a great bonus if you get it right and they get it wrong... which is the majority of the time due to your local knowledge of your own area and micro-climates. This forum I think helps many new people too, some great hints and advice being given by all. Best plan be patient, and just prepare yourself. Have fun!

I had that some years back in the early days of chasing, had a major static shock to the hilarious laughter of my buddy.... Still once learnt twice shy!

Well its always hard to predict small snow fall rather than the larger front that will come across at the weekend, but I woudl say sometime later today/tonight we coudl start to see snow fall again in some shape or form from some passing showers and the some in friday, with a substantial snow fall possible over weekend for the whole county. Its a very changeable scenerio, you just have to keep an eye on it.

Thanet will see snow, in fact you may get some this evening the way things are looking to pan out. Certainly the potential for the weekend is good for thanet.

I have a gut feeling tonight, just a small one that we may see a stream line of light snow late evening... just from what I have been looking at, not calling it just saying that I have that feeling the set up seems to be showing signs all over. I hope so, be nice to have some fun.
