Day off and i still wake up early
Not complaining though, currently -4 and very foggy. Hoping for a bit of rime frost on the trees during my morning walk.

Just got home from a very cold night shift. Phone was busy though as those i work with had picked up on the word Snow whilst having breaks. A little bit of private Jones in the calls.
Checked all the model's i know of and to be honest there is a really good reason they call it nowcasting when snow is involved. Radar watch is always best for this type of weather event.
Hope you all see some, in the next 24 hours or so.

Large flakes drifting lazily in a slack wind across the tops. Short cut over the top instead of around Rudyard a bit dodgy to say the least.

I find the ups and downs of the different models very informative as they try to get a grasp of what the ssw will do.
And love @chionomaniac
Way of showing what may happen with a simple stoke of a pen, very helpfull indeed to

First off wishing all a happy, illness free and peacefull new year.
None of us have a crystal ball nore a time machine to hand so take what ever this winter has to offer in the form of it was better than last year by a country mile and enjoy the up's any many downs of model watching.
I still have high hopes of a memorable winter ahead.

Have calculated mean snow depth for the last two day mornings periods here in the staffs moorlands.
28th =14.5cm
29th = 7.5cm
= 22cm
= 81/2 inches
As December's go I'll give it two gold stars.

Some people drive like idiots when it snows.
Blackshaw moor is never clever when it snows surprised there werent more bumps. And into stoke Bucknall new road cars are sliding backwards imto each other
