  1. Yes, certainly very dry still in these parts aswell. We've had only 15.2mm of rain since the 15th June. The 2019 trend of wet couple of weeks followed by a long dry period seems to be continuing. Today has been rather warm too, with a max temp of 24.3C. I wonder if the other 2019 trend of warm second halves of the month might happen too?
  2. Clear spells overnight leading to an unusually cold start for July - just 0.4C above the 40 year record. It was then a mainly cloudy day with occasional sunny spells, before turning overcast in the last couple of hours. Cooler than average again by day due to an onshore breeze. Max Temp: 17.6C Min Temp: 7.0C Mean Wind: 11mph E Max Gust: 14mph Sunshine: 2.8hrs Rainfall: None Currently overcast with a temp of 13.6C.
  3. Even here close to the coast it dropped to 7.0C overnight - that's only 0.4C above our record lowest July minima.
  4. There has been just 14.6mm of rain and 157hrs of sunshine in the last 20 days here. It has managed to do it without being too hot either. So perfect weather really. Our grass is actually starting to go brown now too as we've had no measurable rain in 9 days and June wasn't especially wet in this area. A 2007 or 2012 stinker this isn't (so far).
  5. It wasn't a good month, but certainly not anywhere near the worst. Here: Mean Temp: 14.1C (+0.0C) Rainfall: 68.4mm (116%) Sunshine: 154hrs (84%) Nothing compared to a June as recent as 2012: Mean Temp: 13.6C (-0.5C) Rainfall: 112.2mm (189%) Sunshine: 115hrs (63%) The first half of June 2019 was pretty dire admittedly, but in the second half we had a mean of 14.8C, 109hrs of sunshine and only 14.6mm of rain. Not too bad really.
  6. A clear and sunny start. Rather cold overnight for July with a min temp of 7.4C. Now up to 15.6C.
  7. A mainly cloudy day with frequent sunny spells. It was once again a warm day after a mild night (20.2C at midnight), but there was quite a keen westerly wind which took the edge off. Max Temp: 23.1C Min Temp: 14.1C Mean Wind: 16mph SW Max Gust: 27mph Rainfall: None Sunshine: 7.7hrs Currently mostly cloudy with a temp of 19.8C.
  8. Slightly warmer and drier than average: 17.1C and 45mm
  9. After early mist it was a clear and sunny day and the warmest of the year so far. Not quite as warm and humid as further inland due to an onshore ESE breeze but still rather warm. Max Temp: 25.5C Min Temp: 12.3C Mean Wind: 12mph ESE Max Gust: 16mph Rainfall: None Sunshine: 10.7hrs (so far) Currently clear and sunny with a temp of 23.6C and 64% humidity.
  10. I suspect it might end up ahead of all on that list, as Today, tomorrow and Saturday may not be far off maximum sunshine, with the cold front arriving overnight Saturday and Sunday being cooler but still pretty sunny. It could actually end up higher than 160 hours at this rate. Still poor, but much improved.
  11. The 1981-2010 average maximum for your neck of the woods in June is 18-19C, so its pretty close to normal for this point in the month. We've just hit 17.0C after a min last night of 7.7C. That's pretty cool for June.
  12. We're on 90 hours now to the 26th. If we record less than 21 hours in the remaining 4 days then it'll be the dullest June in 40 years of records. I suspect it might slot in between 1987 and 2012 looking at the forecast, but either way in the three dullest as beating the 122hrs in 1990 looks a long shot.
  13. It could be quite a chilly night tonight as the clearance has arrived just in time for sunset.
  14. Its overcast and only 12.9C with a keen northerly wind here after a max of just 13.9C. Its quite astonishing how different the weather has turned out after the charts of last week. At least it's stopped raining though, that's something.
  15. Today is certainly worse than expected. Its currently overcast with drizzle, a temp of 13.8C and a 20mph northerly wind. 850hPa temps are currently around 10C, so it shows how they don't always translate to ground temperatures, even in summer.
  16. A rather cold start with a min of 5.9C, the coldest of the month so far. Quickly warming up with sunny spells however, briefly hitting 20.2C around half an hour ago. Currently mostly cloudy with sunny spells and a light easterly breeze. Temp is 19.3C and 62% humidity.
  17. Taken just now. They look amazing tonight.
  18. Some of the dewpoints shown on this run are extreme to say the least: I think you would be hard pushed to find many places in the World with dewpoints that high right now. Most of coastal India / Bangladesh are only 24-26C. Utterly ridiculous if it were to come to fruition.
  19. We've had 45 hours so far this June, just 49% of the 1981-2010 average to this point in the month. Our dullest five Junes since 1980 are: 1987: 111hrs 2012: 115hrs 1990: 122hrs 1982: 133hrs 2016: 135hrs Since 2000, only 2002, 2007, 2012, 2014 and 2016 have had sunshine hours below the current 1981-2010 average (184hrs), the other 14 Junes have been above this. Its also worth noting that should this June finish with a total below average, it will be the first duller than average month since April 2018 - a run of 13 months.
  20. Yes, June 2007 was grim. 206.9mm of rain that month which all fell between the 12th and 30th. It is the wettest month on record here and locally back to 1847.
  21. Yes, that day is comfortably the holder of the lowest July maximum temp on record here at 12.8C. The rainfall quantities here in June haven't been too bad so far at 43.8mm. June and July 2018 managed just 45.2mm combined however, so its definitely different this year!
  22. As you may or may not appreciate, its incredibly difficult to differentiate between genuine and political discussion in here. Next time we'll just remove the lot, how's that?
  23. There's a reason we don't have any political discussion on here anymore. If people could continue without bringing all that stuff up in this thread then it will be able to continue. Otherwise its getting locked. Your choice. Cheers
  24. It won't because if anyone keeps doing this they'll quickly find themselves not being able to post. That goes for this thread too. Enough arguing about preferences and weather 'guilt-tripping'. It stops now.
  25. Confirmed as 11.1C: https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/hadobs/hadcet/cetml1659on.dat 0.6C below the 1981-2010 average 0.1C below the 1961-1990 average Spring was 9.33C, so 35th warmest in the CET series.
