  1. Looking at the track of the secondary low it seems destined to thunder through the central belt of Scotland so for me I think it's going to be the major issue here. I'm in a rural area surrounded by trees in the garden and two horses stabled in a field shelter at the side of the house. It has no foundations, just huge pegs holding it down. Luckily it's quite sheltered there, but I think I may have to nail the horses down. I may stay up most of the night just in case.
  2. I really need to get an anem.....ameno.......anenemom....... a wind speed gauge
  3. Wind is noisy here, but so far nothing out of the ordinary. Max winds expected around midnight. Not seen any rain as yet.
  4. If that secondary low stays on the track it's on, it's gonna sweep across the central belt of Scotland.
  5. Thank you so much for that information. I had missed it, but I've been trying to understand how sting jets form and felt I was just getting more and more confused. I must have understood something after all
  6. Just looked at the wee simple pressure chart on the BBC weather page and there looks like a small warm front joining in with the major cold front of Frank and coiling towards the centre. Is there a chance of a sting jet?
  7. I have 3 of those and for the first time they're hiding behind the sofa tonight. They seem nervous. The wind died down for a couple of hours, but seems to be picking up again
  8. Gusts reaching 64 mph near Livingston in Scotland, probably worse to come. We're on a 600 ft hill and totally exposed to the west and south west so could be an interesting night . Horses tucked up in stables, but very agitated so I'm expecting much worse. Horses make great barometers
  9. Just had rain, then sleet, then hailstones then snow in the Central Belt.
  10. Winds picking up in the middle of the central belt again accompanied by heavy rain.
