Because most people don't like heating costs, getting up early to scrape their car, or breaking an ankle on the way to post a letter. And in summer they do often describe returning to moderate temps after hot spells in terms of "relief".

We trust the climate and the history......

Not sad to see a return to mild. Caught a bad cold at the turn of the year which took two weeks to shake off, and it's left me with a cough. The cold with being ill has made me feel miserable most of Jan.

Didn't get an air frost last night here. Was about 1.5C.

The rain isn't great but since June it's been pretty dry so got to have some perspective really.

We can already grow fairly tender plants. I live in rural Beds and -5C is about as cold as it gets. I guess our winters will become more Isle of Scilly like in 50 years with few frosts even!

The snow I had this morning must have been about 1cm. It was gone from every service after 30 mins. Worse than last winter's only snow event!

To be fair a lot of things happened in the 70's that you can't do now.

All over here I feel. Met say it's meant to be moderately snowing for 2 hours right now but we've had nothing and now even the rain's gone.

Being generous to it, there's a bit of sleet but it's all rather soggy out there.

Depends on the feature and set up. But you won't go far wrong if you cast a skeptical eye on anything over 4 days out for general weather. -

Why are people excited by this? It's going to be too wet to settle and what does will melt easily on Friday.

It's called ramping.

I don't believe in windchill, especially for temps that aren't that cold anyway. It's a poor unspecific measure and a non event in these kinds of temps if you're wearing standard winter dress.

For all the talk of cold coming, because the forecast have been milder than reality here it's going to actually be the same to slightly warmer here than it's been.

Yeah they do. I know Scandinavians who live here because they hate how dark and cold it is at home!
